I'm seeing the two terms being bandied about in this thread and they are not the same. I'm pretty sure if you tried to charge/jump the battery through the rear plug, you'd melt something down. Only a "Battery Maintainer" is plugged into that rear socket. The battery maintainer is like a C-Tek or the one you get from GM (C-Tek) but it costs a ton more with the Corvette Logo on it.

I think there's a big difference between the current flow for charging the battery (as opposed to maintaining) and the current flow for jump starting.
My expectation is that the C7 rear plug would handle most chargers that fit, but not a jump starter.
Does anyone have specs on the fuse or current rating for the rear plug?

Pull fuse #22 in the rear fuse box. This fuse will give you the circuit load rating for the rear power outlet.
Rear fuse panel #22 is rated at 20 amps. More than adequate for a tender, maybe OK to actually charge, but not so much for jump starting.
My CTEK 7002 battery charger can charge a 12 V flooded lead acid-filled car battery at 7 amps. This is a moderate amount of charging capacity. It is the highest amp 12 V car battery charger I can find that offers a power outlet pigtail.
Does anyone else find it strange that plugging the charger in to the cigarette lighter charges the battery? Maybe it's just me and the fact I've owned motorcycles for years and used to the battery tender pigtail that connects to the battery; maybe it'd be different if motorcycles had cigarette lighters?
Anyhow. Off to vote!
I installed a 12V Powerlet plug on my motorcycle near the bars. I plug a connector from my tank bag into it which allows me to power my GPS and charge my phone from inside the bag. I also use that port to plug in my battery tender. Much better than the pigtail on the battery.

Was the same in the C7. Only one Auxiliary plug is wired to be “hot” all the time. The one under the passenger side dash is only electrically powered when the car is running. Can wire the plug however you like as GM has done.
Deltran Battery Tenders have worked for me since 1987 C4 Corvette.
Looks like you have an older Deltran charger. Does it have a transformer inside, you can look thru the top vent holes to see if it does, or is it a newer one that uses switching technology?
