Default Hood release

Hey all.. Just purchased a used 2016 z51 stingray m7.

I'm trying to open the hood but the latch isn't working/registering?

I pull it towards me and it'll move but nothing happens.. No clicks or no feedback.

Any ideas on how to get the latch to work?

Thanks

Mr. Birdhouse is joking.

The hood release is one of the few things that is still the old way on the car.

The handle activates a cable to both sides at the rear of the hood.

The cables may need adjusting or it is detached from the pull handle.

He's blowin' smoke at ya. If you are pulling the handle inside and it is not "clicking" and the hood doesn't pop up a little bit, you've got issues. If you can't get it open, I'd drive to a dealer and let them fight and repair it.

You bought a car without looking under the hood?

Handle -> cable to each side -> latch on each side. If no clicks, resistance, or moderate force required the cables may be off the handle under the dash.

Congrats on your "new to you" ride. These are amazing cars. This is an amazing forum...98% of the time. Well, of course, that's only about 65% of the time. ;-)
Honestly tho....the only stupid question is the one you 'don't' ask. Feel free to hit us up here with anything. You'll usually get some snarky remarks...but you'll also get your answer too.

the hood should pop right around the halfway point or less of the release lever travel.

Weird issue. Don't think I've heard of that happening before. Do you feel any resistance at all when you pull on it? If it flops wicked easily, then the cable may have simply detached from the lever.

Let us know what the fix was incase one of us runs into it in the future.

Pull the handle while having someone press down on the hood on both sides about a foot forward from the rear edge. Best of luck.

Sounds like you either need the cable adjusted or replaced if it is defective. Take the car to your dealer and have them fix it.

It sounds like the actuating handle may be broke. I've seen and heard of this before. Look under you dash were the handle is (use mirror) and see if the cables are in fact in place and more importantly being held in place. That they are not loose. If under warranty great have them fix it. If not it took me 15 minutes to remove the broken one and another 1/2 hour getting everything back in place on the new handle. It's not hard, but it is tricky. On this forum there is good post about removing the handle.

Good luck

I'd say it sounds more like someone isn't pulling the handle all the way. You're pulling until the cable is tight and then stopping. Pull the handle through where it begins to tighten up and the hood will pop open. Don't know what click or register you're looking for. It's a cable, not an electrical release like the doors.
