Default Lug Nuts

Anyone have problems with the chrome clad lug nuts? I do not, but my Dodge Charger had chrome clad lug nuts where the caps loosened up, because of a dealer mistake, and I had to buy Gorilla 1 piece lug nuts.

It's been a problem for years. Depending on where the car is parked - it may take longer to show up - but it will eventually rear it's ugly head.

The solution is McGard or Gorilla. $50 and (hopeully) half an hour and problem solved...

I had the cladding come apart on one lug nut. it had been overtightened before I bought the car. With all the force needed to break it loose it came apart. Replaced them all with solid lug nuts

Yes, problems can occur with the chrome clad lug nuts. That's why I use solid lug nuts on my car.

I replaced mine with McGard after noticing two outer casingS were collapsing/buckling.

The ones on the C7 seem to be holding up much better than the ones on the C6 did. I pound on them all the time with an impact wrench when changing wheels from street to track.

I had mine replaced with solid lug nuts at Discount Tire during a tire balance visit.

I happen to own a complete set of OEM Corvette C7 chrome lug nuts I took off my 19 GS. They're in excellent condition. Only have 800 miles on the nuts so they have many more miles left on them. PM if anybody's interested.

I switch my rims a few times of year. The OEM chrome nuts have held up well. Looking for an excuse to get some black ones.

The stock GM ones are crap. I replaced them with McGard. McGard finish seem to hold up better than Gorilla IMHO. YRMV.
