First, admitted low tech guy-dumbed down answers will be greatly appreciated. I accidentally got the bow tie C7 emblem on my infotainment screen once. Today, I accidentally got it off-back to the settings, etc. screen. How do I get it back to the bow tie display. Thanks.
I'm resurrecting this "Dumb Screen Question" because the best answer to "how do I?" is use the search function...but I didn't quite get the answer!
New-to-me 2016 Z51 2LT convertible with nav, and I'm learning the ins-and-outs. Here's one I can't figure out: Why won't the nav screen drop? I've tried:
1. car off, infotainment powered up by pushing the on button. didn't work.
2. car on accessory, infotainment powered up. didn't work.
3. car running, infotainment powered up. didn't work.
4. turning off, turning on everything in 1-3. didn't work.
5. Checked valet mode, it's off (and glove box door opens).
It has to be a setting somewhere, I'm at a loss where. Go ahead and chuckle, then lend a hand if you can? Thank you!
HI Elk, yes, the infotainment screen is in place, so that you cannot access the storage bin behind. I depressed the "Screen" button in all of the following conditions, but the screen remains in place, hiding the storage bin:
1. car off, infotainment powered up by pushing the on button. didn't work. 2. car on accessory, infotainment powered up. didn't work. 3. car running, infotainment powered up. didn't work. 4. turning off, turning on everything in 1-3. didn't work. 5. Checked valet mode, it's off (and glove box door opens).
Got it. The opposite of what I was thinking you were saying, Sorry.
The door can get jammed when something is in the bin and comes up against the door. One thing to try is to work a credit card under the bottom of the door and use it to push anything that might be in the away from the door while occasionally pushing the up button. People have also had success getting up to speed and hitting the brakes hard while pushing the button (cell phones, etc. have gotten stuck and this gets them to move away from the door).
I have never had the problem (I do not keep anything in there). Hopefully someone with more specific knowledge will chime in .

Funny, Elk, I was just reading a bunch of posts by C7 owners who say they don't use theirs out of exactly that concern, and others are concerned that the presumptively plastic gearing will wear out with too much use. I think I'm likely to follow your, and their, lead. But now that I can't get it open I kind of feel obligated to at least look.
Funny, true story - several years ago I bought a 2005 SLK convertible, manual transmission. She had some miles on her and had had three owners, so I stripped out the interior to hyperclean it. When I removed the center console, slipped into an inaccessible place was a cash envelope from a bank. The envelope was over ten years old based on some scribbling on it. Inside the envelope were ten $100 bills.
So you can see why I gotta know what's behind that screen.

If your C7 is a manual, the screen will not lower if the transmission gear shift is in reverse when the ignition is in accessory mode or in service mode or if the engine is running.
Also, at least with a manual, the screen will not lower for the first few minutes after turning off the engine after having been in reverse or parked in reverse.
You might also try turning everything off, closing the doors, waiting 10 minutes, then get into the car and just press the screen button without turning on the ignition.

KLG, that has to be on the right track. Mine IS a manual, and I have a habit of leaving the transmission in gear rather than using the P brake (a holdover from learning from my dad that the P-brake can "freeze" in place, probably true on the cars of the day). I am going to try both of the suggestions tomorrow. Thank you! BTW is this one of those things that appear nowhere in any manual, it's just something you learn?

I am old school and always park my manual transmission vehicles with the transmission in reverse. I do not set the parking brake unless I am on an incline.
The only thing I recall in the OM is that the screen won't lower when in Valet Mode. The rest of it, I figured out over time.
I think I was wrong about the screen not moving when the ignition is in Accessory Mode and the transmission is in reverse. I guess when I was trying to figure it all out, I was in that "Dead Zone" that occurs after coming out of Service Mode or shutting down the engine, when the screen will not move with the transmission in reverse regardless of the ignition situation.
I haven't bothered to figured out how long that "Dead Zone" lasts after I realized just taking it out of reverse allows the screen to move.
Your question is not dumb at all. I can't remember how many times I have asked a dealer a seemingly simple question and they had no answer, especially the sales people. They might sell a particular vehicle, but often times have no clue when asked questions.

Any success with lowering and raising your display screen?

Not yet. I'm going to retackle again this weekend with variants of engine running/not running and shifter in neutral/reverse. I might swear a little, and I will have to restrain myself from poking it with stuff.
