Found a 2019 Z06 2LT at Carmax in Orlando. Ordered it up for a test drive and it was delivered in a couple of days. The car was nice and I wanted to upgrade my 2019 Stingray 1LT. Started looking the car over and the tires were about 75% gone at only 7,800 miles. In addition, it had 3 previous owners. To top that off, they only offered me $42,000 in trade for my Stingray with NPP, PDR, NAV and Z51 wheels.
Now here’s the funny thing. The Z06 was automatic and my Stingray is a manual. The acceleration in the Z06 was not that impressive. I expected it to be a monster and it wasn’t. Is the manual geared lower than the automatic?

Yes, but the A8 transmission has a lower first gear. I suspect the 3:42 rear gear of the M7 and the lower 1st gear ratio of the Z51 7 speed has something to do with that feel. However, you need to turn on the boost when driving the Z. That means taking the boost gauge into positive numbers. Without experience, I would work up to doing that until you can feel a true wide open blast through a couple of gears. I doubt you had any real chance to release the beast while on a test drive from CarMax.

Sounds like something is amiss with the Z06. I believe in GM testing, the A8 was faster than an M7 0-60 so if the Z06 felt sluggish, it was not normal. If I’m wrong on the times, my apologies to the M7 crowd.
I would say they low balled you on your 2019 - it should be worth more than $42K, even as a 1LT.
Even though that Vette is a '19, it could have been produced in early 2018 due to how early GM started producing the 2019. I own a '19 GS. I ordered it in March of 2018 and received in mid April. But even a car that could be 30+ months old to have three previous owners is not a good sign to me. The VIN and the date code on the tires would give you an indication of when that Vette was produced.
If you drive the Vette on the OEM tires like a regular car you get between 20,000 to 22,000 miles on them. If those tires have 7,500 miles on them and only 25% of the tread left, I would say the car has been driven hard. But perhaps nothing more than what a Z06 is built for.
I can't tell how good the price is without knowing the specifics of your Vette and what they are asking on the Z06. But the amount offered for your car sounds low to me.

Sounds like you were not satisfied with the Z06, the A8 trans, Carmax or the deal they offered you on your Stingray. And not happy with your Stingray for that matter since you are considering trading for another 2019.
I wish you luck in finding what you want.
As a Z06 owner, I can tell you that the OE tires will last 7 to 10K miles, the summer tires are very soft and do not last, 7500 miles is about right especially if the car has not had a alignment. As others have said, the Z is a beast, if it seems sluggish, then something is just not right even with the A8. There are not many drivers on the public streets can hammer a Z, it will get away from you fast.
As far as the 3 owners, look who has owned the car, example, car traded, that would be 2 owners, original owner & the dealer, then if car sold at auction, owner #3., Anytime the car changes hands, on a Carfax, it will show change in ownership.
I'm in the majority here. I have both a C7 Stingray and a C7 Z06. Both automatics. When I step on the throttle there is absolutely no comparison. My Stingray feels like a slug after driving the Z06. The difference is night and day. If you are getting just a little bit on it and can't feel the difference between the torque and power there is something definitely wrong.
I went from a '19 GS to a '19 Z06. The difference in power between the LT1 and LT4 is huge. If you don't feel the acceleration when on throttle, you do not want to move forward with that car.
I bet that that 19 Z06 never had a proper alignment with the tires that shredded. It will not hook up without proper alignment, and worn tires. I'm sure the traction control is kicking on when you try to have fun killing all the torque. I purchased my 2016 ZO6 used with 12,000 miles on the tires, and they were done. The chords where showing on the front inside tire, guaranteed it had no proper alignment. I got new tires and alignment, and the traction control stopped turning on every second and it sure is a beast.
I have a 2016 Z06 A8

I went from a 2016 A8 and if the Z06 doesn’t feel scary when you get on it, something is not right.
the torque on the Z06 kicks in so hard and early as compared to the regular stingray.
good luck on your search.

Purely anecdotal here, but where the Z06 really can be powerful and potentially "scary" is not in first gear. Get it in second, and holy crap, that thing takes off!
My '14 A6 would take off like a bat out of hell, but not so much my Z06 M7. May just be me. Maybe, if my Z06 was an auto, then, that could be a cautionary tale.
Are you sure you weren't just spinning the tires and didn't notice it? If the tires were 75% worn out the acceleration wont be that great until after 60-70mph. Also, 42k isn't a bad price for your stingray. They were selling for that new just a short time ago, also carmax is in business to make money, not to pay you top dollar for your trade.
You're not going to feel a massive difference in power in the Z06 vs Z51 below 70mph. In addition the M7 just plain feels quicker in 1-2 gears vs an automatic. But if you lined them up and did a drag race the Z06 would walk away until about 70-80mph where it will then begin to sprint away like the Z51 is standing still. I actually had the exact same feeling when upgrading from my Z51 to Z06, I thought wow I expected a bigger difference in power. It wasn't until I owned the Z06 and was able to take it out on the highway where I began to understand what I was dealing with. The Z06 is a beast compared to a Z51, you just have to let it breath.
