Default Alignment problem

I have a 2019 G/S with 9,000 miles and the dealer is replacing the propeller shaft due to a grinding noise. He also tells me a need an allignment as by rear wheels are wearing.
Could the propeller shaft issue has caused any problem with the allignment?
Thanks

No, not related. I believe your car has a more aggressive alignment for the track. If you don't track your car ask for a street alignment. The tires will last longer.

Very common for the tires to wear prematurely with the factory alignment as the car comes from the factory with an aggressive alignment for the track.

First, the car doesn't come from the factory with a track alignment. The track alignment is recommended in the OM and the nominal setting specs are about double the factory alignment for camber. Toe and Front and Rear Caster are the same. The factory alignment does tend to wear the insides of the front tires but the rear alignment is somewhat impervious to that. I have run the track alignment all year round on my car and I have run the street alignment during all of my street driving and with either one the rear tires wear evenly. Even on track, my rear tires wear evenly.

If the front tires aren't wearing with the way the OP is driving the car just switching to a street alignment may not be the thing to do. Rear alignment wear could be because there is a little too much toe-out and that may be all that needs to be done. However, correcting alignment wear on tires that already are worn doesn't stop those tires from wearing out faster on the inside edges.

the first thing I did to my new 2019 GS was to swap out the OEM track tires (Michelin Super Sport Summer only) with Michelin Sport A/S3+ and had a street alignment done on her.

Did this myself to my Stingray although the reason was different. I got a hole in 1 tire and the dealership couldn’t repair it and couldn’t find a replacement. Really happy with the A/S3’s though and wouldn’t go back. That being said, I don’t track my car and don’t even drive very aggressively on the street. If I did, I would have probably done a more performance tire.

I'm not a track guy either and as she is my daily driver driving aggressively on the streets of Brooklyn is stupid on so many levels. I have to admit that yesterday I was on a two lane ave in the outside lane. there was a truck double parked ahead and this late model kia/nisan/honda any car in the curb lane was speeding up in an attempt to cut me off so he could pass the double parked truck. I simply sped up parallel to him and gave him a standard Brooklyn "Get real" look then left him in my rear view mirror. I slowed down as I came to the corner as I was making a right. At no time did I exceed 40. I assure you the sole purpose was to educate this fool and teach him a lesson.
