Default Dash wire help needed after replacing dash

Hi Guys
I replaced my dash on my 2014 z51 convertible and here is the deal, I know where all the wires plug back in except this one with the red end. If you look at the pictures it's the the wire next to the starter switch on the right of the picture. Thanx in advance for any help guys. I plugged a few wires back in to start the car and of course starts no problem .

Tom - will be interesting to see the responses you get on what that wire goes to.

I don't know for sure, but lots of times there are wires that don't go anywhere. I see it often, on my cars and in aircraft.

I can not figure where this wire came from . If I have to I will plug back in all the wires before put I mount everything solid to see what comes up . It has me stumped

Is there any marking on the connector? What trim level and trans do you have?

Connector might be for an option that you don't have...

Do you think it goes to the dash or steering column? Maybe somebody that has installed a throttle controller and run wires under the dash has pictures from underneath and can help. Too late now but this is why I have lately been taking pictures of things before and during disassembly. Tech all my life but I have a terrible memory.

Total guess - how about the slot where the FOB goes for reprogramming?
There has to be some electrical connection to make that slot functional...

I just replaced my dash last week (2016 2LT Z51). I had 6 connectors 3 on each side -- Right side was ignition, hazards and radio/hvac harness. Left side was HUD, Interior lights and mirrors.

Judging by my pictures that wire must go the steering column.

No Red Harness

Thanx for the input guys I'm sure it's not to the dash because all the plugs have been accounted for . My car is a 3LT so it's pretty loaded and I have been trying to trace it by the length of the wire . Once you have the dash off there is really not that much there and it's pretty easy to tell where things go

Someone get this man a prize. I just looked it up in the service manual and you are absolutely correct.

I believe he is correct with the steering column it's the only place that makes any sense to me due to the length of the wire. When I go down to my shop this morning I am going to really look close . I was looking there last night with a mirror and will look again today while I have plenty of day light, Thanx guys for all the replies I know I can always count on the team

Thanks for the confirmation. The location, length and missing column cover pointed me towards the FOB slot. Plus red is the default color for "switched 12v+" aka ignition. Years of installing car stereos have given me spidey-sense when it comes to wiring

I found it guys by searching the length of the wire . I looked all over that steering column with a flashlight and mirror during the sunlight today and nothing , so I went back to the steering column covers I had taken off and BAM!!!!!! there is was on the inside of the top cover problem solved . Thanx for everyone's input.
