Default Proper Jack Stand Placement

If you ever have to work under your car there is more to just jacking it up in the air. The past video I posted on that subject helped a lot of folks out. This time I wanted to show exactly where GM recommends safety jack stands for a C7. Never get under a car even if you think it's only going to be for a second without properly placing a safety stand. I personally have been tired or feeling lazy while doing a repair job and thought, ehhhh I don't need a jack stand. Wrong, wrong, wrong! The jack hydraulics can fail without any notice in an instant or the car itself could roll and slip. That can become a quick disaster in more than one way. I guess the older I get the wiser I get because nowadays it's mandatory to use a stand when going under the vehicle. I hope this video helps you out and please share with family, friends and collogues that do this kind of work. 2020 was bad enough, let's keep '21 as good as we can. Thanks and stay safe! -(Ozz) Glen

My floor jack is too "tall" to use on my C7 Stingray, but I have a set of Race Ramps [2 piece] that enable me to safely change my oil & filter.

I do have four jack stands and the pucks handy in the event that I get around to buying a low-profile jack someday.

Thanks to the OP for the great video!

Great video and safety reminder, Thanks
Just a recommendation, as opposed to using a block of wood between jackstands and placement point, I use a piece of rubber tire as less chance of slippage and don't have to worry about an old piece of wood possibly splitting out on you.

Nice video. It's not easy to get under there and see all those nice views you provided for us to study.

For those of you that don't know, Ozz also has a video for changing C7 dry sump oil and changing out C7 brake pads. I've used both of these.

The narrow stand locations make me nervous lol. I always use a jack or two or even wheels placed underneath as an extra safety measure.

nobody wants

Floor jacks of the proper low profile/ style as depicted in OzzRockStar's video, are essential to use floor jack stands. Besides, ramps ARE risky. It's just that simple. Cheap insurance....
