Any idea out there how about 40 acorns could end up in my passenger door? My car is always in the Garage and I have never had this issue in the past. A few weeks ago I went to uncover the car and noticed when I opened the passenger door there was a light brown dust dropping out of the bottom The more I opened and closed the door the more dust fell out. So I decided to remove the door panel and when I did about 40 acrons fell out. All of them in the front part of the door where the panel attaches, nothing on the backside where the window and motor are located. Clearly a rodent was present. I did find two nest in my car, one in the rear storage compartment on the left side ( I have a 2017 Convertible) and another in the Cabin Air Filter. All this occurred within one month of me putting the car up for storage. I have since removed them and taken all necessary precautions for no other to enter, at least I am hoping that is the case. Dryer sheets, mouse traps and peppermint oil. My car and garage look like a mine field with glue traps, mouse traps and other deterrents. I think I know how the mice got in the interior of my car (note: I ended up killing four of them about a week after in traps) since I mistakenly left my rear trunk hatch open while my battery tender was connected. I have done this for the last two seasons with no issue, but I guess this was not smart this year. I have since solved that by closing the hatch.
So my question, any idea how they could get into my passenger door with that many acorns. My assumption was it was mice, but maybe it was Chipmunks since there were so many. The only access to that door that would allow a acorn to pass is thru the wire harness I believe. Has any other member experienced this? The harness looks very small so I always thought it was mice but now Im wondering if mice could carry that many acorns. To say I am pissed is an understatement, but I guess its just part of life here in NH
Thanks for your input.

Mice are not acorn eaters. It is most likely chipmunks. You can rid yourself of them by parking your vehicle in your driveway on a very cold night. This will kill them. You will then need to take your door panel off to dispose of them.

Chipmunks can get through a hole the size of a quarter. Check the doors. Are there any holes this size you can visibly see? It could be where the weatherstripping mounts into the door. Check to see if all your weatherstripping is intact.

If its a Chip, they do not need a big space. Its amazing to see what they can crawl through.

I never had that problem in my Vette but my house. My garage, at least so far is very tight and has been rodent proof! OBTY I have always shut the trunk or hatch on the tender wire, your good to go shutting it

I could hear the little bastards in the wall at night. Finely found out after many hours of looking how they got in. I managed to block the hole during the day and it appears I did not trap any in.

After I had the filter pulled and the remnants of a large mouse nest was found I paid a pest control guy 169 bucks to give the house (crawl space) and the garage the once over, had some traps set and one return visit to confirm the garage/house was rodent proofed. Luckily none of the wiring in the car was touched so it was a close one. Worth it to pay an expert to give your place the once/twice over......

I guess I appreciate the replies, but again I'm looking for some input regarding how the rodents (Mice or chipmunk got the Acorns into my door). Think about the size of the acorns, look at the photo. The mice or chipmunk might be able to get though a hole the size of a quarter but the acorns can't. Im confused on how they were able to get so many in when i can't find any entry point except the wiring harness that goes into the door from the inside where the hinges are located. My weatherstripping is in tack and untouched. The rodents are no longer in my garage.

I have heard stories about there being reports of a race of intergalactic chipmunks that can teleport like Enterprise crew members did on the original Star Trek television series. Have you given this a consideration?

Hope you can determine how the critters got in - would like to hear what you find out.

Of course, they may have just "stashed" the cache for safe-keeping planning to come back later... just as I watch the squirrels do in my back woods. They don't have to get in to store food there.
