Default Clutch bleeding

Are you guys saving Super DOT 4 fluid for your next Ranger or Syringe clutch fluid job, or are you tossing it?

I know the stuff is hydroscopic so not good to use if it has been left open. I just did my second oil change and on car and figured a ranger method flush each change seems reasonable.
Plan to suck fluid from the line this time too.

Really wondering if you all just buy the smallest bottle of brake fluid possible, since most won't get used and you can't save it for next time.

Finally, what do you guys do with the left over and the old stuff?

After I've opened a brake fluid container (DOT 3 or DOT4), I get rid of the left over brake fluid after a few weeks.

I only keep it around for a short time in case I need to top off the reservoir.

I am kind of OCD, I write the date opened on the container too.

I have a recycling center about 10 miles away where I take my used engine oil and other household waste that can't go out in the regular trash pick-up.

Whatever you're comfortable with, but an opened can of DOT4 should last a year or two.

What brand do you guys use?
Or is that not too critical? DOT 4 or SUPER DOT 4?

I use GM Delco Super Dot 4. GM states there are added lubricants to the formula to lubricate certain parts better than off the shelf.. Besides I don't care about spending a few extra buck for the GM. that's what they recommend.

I used Pentosin Super DOT 4 when I did the Ranger Method last year. I used the Pentosin because several other CF members recommended it.

Although I've not used it, the GM fluid for clutch and brake systems is PN 19299570.

I use Pentosin Super DOT4, but I'd think any quality brand would be fine.

I keep mine sealed in a container for next use up to a year.

Extend shelf life of open brake fluid container by storing indoors where humidity is lower.

Just curious, do you see an advantage to use Pentosin DOT 4 LV as opposed to the Super DOT 4?

I know LV means low viscosity and it is supposed to have some advantages in ABS systems.

I always use a fresh container of super dot 4, any remaining fluid I pour around the foundation of my house to kill termites. been doing that for 40 years, no termites in sight. it must be working.

That's what I've read too: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1595707609

Of course we are talking clutch here (not brakes) so I don't see any advantage to the LV stuff... its just what I used. I assume any DOT4 is likely fine for something as simple as your clutch. I've never had any clutch problems, even on track so I'd say its working as intended.

Understood, thanks for the clarification!
