I've been driving my C7 a lot this winter, still on the OEM tires. But this stinkin' snow storm is gonna put the kibosh on that for awhile. Shoveling snow, slush and salt everywhere, mountains of salty plowed snow in parking lots and road shoulders melting off for weeks. Damn it.

Living in a place where winter weather happens does put a stop to driving the car. Sucks, but it is what it is. No snow here today, but it is raining - hopefully enough to clean off the sand/salt that has been thrown on the streets in recent weeks.
No, it doesn't, at least not here. That's what makes this so hard. We haven't had a real snowfall here for a few years so I guess I have been spoiled. The events themselves aren't the real issue. It's the lingering mess... especially the salty piles of snow everywhere that can last for weeks and keep feeding the roads with salty runoff as they melt. No C7, no cycling, ice dams on the roof of the house, and... oh well.
Here in NJ we are expecting over a foot of snow starting tonite so I will be sadly putting my car away until the snow melts and the salt washes away. Even though it’s gonna be in the 20s today and I have summer tires, I want to take it a one last ride today and hope I don’t encounter roads pre treated for the upcoming snow.

Yup. Not looking forward to this. It's been so cold out. I don't know how any of the wildlife (foxes, birds, squirrels, racoons) survive in this weather. I've been putting wam water and food out for them to drink everyday and night.
I have driven the C7 a couple of times on pre-treated roads... they usually put it down so early it dries up and isn't an issue. It is already snowing here now, so too late for that. But I'll probably take the Tacoma out later and have some fun in it.
Oh, while walking our JRT yesterday we encountered a lady walking a beautiful Corgi... Cooper was his name. He was the friendliest and sweetest little dog... well, next to our JRT anyway!

I have to refill my bird feeder every couple of days. The buggers get really hungry in this cold weather.
I went to the bird store yesterday and a lady there had one of those flatbed carts loaded with bird seed, peanuts, and a whole bunch of other stuff. She said she was feeding birds, deer, an injured fox and a whole bunch of other critters. She had like $500 worth of various feeds. Yikes.

Year-around driving is possible here, but when one has nowhere to go, it’s a bit of a moot point. Other than two long trips totaling about 2,500 miles, I’ve driven my Corvette less than 600 miles since the pandemic started, making it little more than an expensive piece of driveway art! (And yes, it sits outside, along with my favorite car, a 2001 Jaguar XJR, as they can withstand that better than my 30 and 42 year old cars.)

Corgis are great dogs, ours passed away 5 yrs ago and now we have a rescue pit bull.
Sports cars are toys for the Summer.. they make SUV's for the Winter.. I personally have no interest in driving a sports car in the Winter you can.. but WHY?
Made it all the way to the end of December before I had to put the Grand Sport away. I hope winter doesn't hang around late into spring to make up for it.
