No it can not. But if memory serves me the PDR comes paired with navigation. Check for the PDR icon on the screen and the SD card slot in the glove box.

Yes, you can. I've done it on my 2014. But I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you really like projects like that. It's a major undertaking.
Found a vehicle I would like to purchase but doesn’t have a PDR. Can they be added? It’s a 2019 grand sport 2lt with navigation by the way.
The cars come with two types of Navigation. One is provided by OnStar the other is an onboard Nav/PDR option that was only standard on 3LT cars. Check to make sure the car has the Nav/PDR option. Adding the Nav/PDR package is possible but is difficult. If this car doesn't have the Nav/PDR it would be lower cost to find another car that has the option.
If in doubt, scan the QR code on the door jamb sticker. UQT is the code for PDR. Also check for the PDR icon on the info screen (may not be on the first page) and the SD card slot low on the left side just outside the glove box and only accessible with the glove box door open.
Just wondering if you have ever actually used the PDR?
For tracking, with the data overlays, it is cool and likely difficult to replicate all that overlay functionality cheaply or easily. Good for on track.
If you really just want dash cam video of you driving around on the street, 1) The actual camera resolution of the stock PDR camera is abysmal - any aftermarket solution including just sticking your cell phone on the dash would yield a much better image. 2) There are threads about people having trouble using the stock PDR as a dash cam since it doesn't turn on automatically, might be some other issues with what happens when the card memory runs out and how it wraps... might want to check into that and ensure you'll be satisfied before planning to use the PDR as a dash cam.
Like any gadget tech, it was cool the day it was released, but as the car ages even just a little bit, it will start to look dated quickly and likely not be considered desirable. Personally I would not base purchase of a car on whether or not it is there, even today with the cars being relatively new, unless possible tracking was the motivation. There are far better solutions for dash cams.
No, it's not. I've got well under $1000 into mine.
Jeff - You seem to be the only person ive found in here whos actually added PDR to their 2014 - can you describe that process for me? Im guessing obviously the camera install, and some software updates to say the least. Looking to do it to my 2014 - as well as changing the steering wheel to the squared bottom. On that note - is the steering wheel anything tricky other than buying/swapping?
Im a mechanic, worked at a dealership as well as on my own cars for many years. Not scared of the work - just want to save some research time.
Yes you do! Here is the window sticker of my 2019 GS 2LT.
The PDR does not come with a 2LT. What this is showing is the original order had the PDR added at a cost of $1,795.00 under the RPO of UQT. The Nav would include the PDR, but that required the 3LT package.
The PDR/NAV was included in the 3LT but optional on the 1LT and 2LT. If you plan on tracking the car it is worth it but for street use it brings very little added value. I ordered it because I wanted the Nav which I like on some occasions. Other than testing the PDR a couple of times I’ve never used it, I should have saved my money.

That's not what was discussed in any post. What was said was I have a 2LT with Nav and not assuming the 2LT comes with anything. It just happened to have it. All we were saying was if you have Nav you have the PDR, it just so happened it was in a 2LT car.

My situation is a bit stranger even - I have a 3LT with Nav, however i have a 2014 and im guessing an early one - i have a round steering wheel and no PDR. Looking to add it and the steering wheel. Love my car, really want the PDR.
