As I recall, first I removed the floor mats. Then I removed the trim piece on the door sill. Then removed the plastic panel directly beneath dash. Then you can pull back the carpet and just roll it back sufficiently to get to the plate that protects the BCM. I think there are two nuts and one bolt on top and the plate comes out so you can access the BCM.
I pulled out the BCM so I could unplug the two connectors needed. I used posi-taps to tap into the wires. You might be able to do it without dismounting the BCM or unplugging any connectors. I just wanted to make sure I was tapping into the right pins. It is a bit tight but doable.
So no need to remove the seat or remove the carpet at all.
