Gonna jack up one wheel to remove and ceramic coat caliper and wheel , have the puck and low hydraulic jack
should I use a jack stand to support, or my 7” x 20” wood block? And where to place it

This is a picture I saved from the forum, not my car
i kid, i kid. but yeah, use stands, you can lift a car with a floor jack a thousand times and hold it up using the floor jack, a thousand times, and its totally fine.. until it isn't. and if some awful accident happens, what would one's conclusion be? shoulda had it properly supported.
I use both large wood blocks and jack stands. Typically I use the jack stands when supporting the front and rear cross members. However on the sides I use my 12' x 12" wood blocks. I have used cement blocks also in lieu of the wood. Honestly I trust the wood blocks more because I feel they are more stable and can not slip out-more surface contact. As wisely stated above, make sure something is under there for your safety.
I use 2 jacks. My normal aluminum jack at one puck point and then one of the tiny Harbor freight jacks at the other puck point. I started doing this when I noticed that I can jack up the entire side using either the front or rear puck point. The small HF jack is just $59 when they have one of their sales so it is almost less expensive than stands. BTW, this is only for when I am NOT going under the car.
