been looking for c7 z51. seen a couple on carmax but options list is very vague and incomplete. no mention of trim pkg, 1lt,2lt,or 3lt.no mention of mag ride, performance exhaust ,etc.called local carmax location and was on hold over 10 minutes twice with no answer,e mailed them, got response, got call from them.they told me to google search vin number.all i can find on line are carfax reports and similar for history, any place to find options list?thanks,
I would look at Carvana.com. I look at their cars every day, sell no accident cars that have been through their inspection process. Also have good pictures that you can revolve 360 deg. and enlarge them inside and out. Vroom.com also sells cars on line. Both will deliver to your home and you have a 7 day trial period, if you don't like it, they will pick it up.
Been looking on carvana more than any other, they sell fast on there. There is a 2014 on their site now that hits all the buttons, except for 7 !!! owners. But looks like one owner was dealership, one owner was flipper (put less than 1000 miles on ),and last owner is Carvana. What does that do for resale if I am owner number 8 ? no pictures yet. Kind of scary.
The way I understand it, you can put up a $100 refundable deposit to hold the car, then when the pictures are posted, you can proceed with the deal or get your money back. Having 7 owners is not ideal but looking at the Carfax and seeing how the vehicle was maintained and where it was from is more important to me. My Corvette also shows 7 owners, I am number 7, but 3 of them were dealers that had it for sale and the person that bought it new sold it to a friend of his who kept it for a year or so and sold it back to the original owner. I am well pleased with my car and would buy it again, have seen some cars that one or two owners that were not in as good condition as my car is.
Seven owners in 7 years would be a real concern for me! You do have the opportunity to check it with Carvana as others have mentioned, so that's a good thing.
My suggestion is to be patient and keep looking.
I am surprised. I got my car at Carmax and they brought it up from San Diego. The website had all the details about trim and accessories. It was an easy deal with a seven day take back.
I have actually bought and sold 5 vehicles on Facebook Marketplace including 3 Corvettes. There are new listings coming on very frequently, some are dealers and some are private owners. You can use the filters to narrow your search down by mileage, newest listings. Some people like it, some don't, I just know it has worked for me.
I just a quick search on Carfax.com -- found 16 C7 Z51 -- within 500 miles of your zip.
You might want to modify the search parameters to suit your desires though. https://www.carfax.com/Used-Chevrole...ette-Z51_t6040
I'm the 4th owner of a 2017 GS. I was a bit afraid buying it but after almost a year, zero issues. I did get a GM extended warranty though, just in case.
Thank you all so much for your responses.I am looking for a manual tranny which narrows down my choices considerably, but i will try to be patient. The itch is getting pretty bad though. Need to keep price below $ 50,000,so that seems to put gs out of reach. Lots of Z51 come up,not many manual tranny. They do sell fast when do come up. Will keep looking. Thanks again. This is a fantastic forum which has always helped me immensely.
Don't know if you are interested or it would be doable but there is a 2014 Corvette Stingray Z51 Coupe, red with black interior, M7 that looks like it is very nice for $40k. It showed up on Facebook Marketplace this morning in Commerce, Ga. It has 40k miles on it,
Any VIN decoder will tell you really basic stuff like trim level and transmission. There's no place I've found besides a GM dealership that can tell you specific options like colors and mag ride. When I was shopping for my car at Carmax, I just had to work with the sales people to describe what I'm looking for. They deal with hundreds of cars from every manufacturer, so it's not really possible for them to be an expect in any one specific model. So either ask for a photo of the option label in the trunk, or just be prepared to tell them very specifically what you're looking for. All Z51s have performance exhaust. Mag ride has wires coming out of the top of the shocks and they're black instead of yellow. Stuff like that. They're really good to work with otherwise.
The thing with vettes, trim level only tells part of the story. Trim level only guarantees that does (or doesn't) have heated/cooled seats and HUD. All other options can be custom ordered on any trim. Really figure out what options you need/want, and then you can usually pick them out with a good eye and proper pictures.
2 cents: I finally started just calling the dealers asking them for the info I wanted. I know they like us to do that
but to know for sure I had call and also let them know I was not wanting a lot of call backs, just looking for the info.

If my memory serves me, the NPP was optional for the 2014 Z51.
Have the dealer take a picture of the RPO sticker - near the battery or the QR code on the door jam in later years. This lists all the factory installed options. I wouldn't buy a C7 without seeing that sticker as confirmation since dealers, especially non-GM ones, have no idea about things like the NPP exhaust or mag-ride suspension.
As mentioned there are trim levels as well as options that could be added. For example you could get NAV installed in a 1LT but it came standard in the 3LT. This leads to confusion if someone see NAV and then assumes the car also has the HUD which requires at least the 2LT package and was not available as a stand alone option. Too many possible combinations with not enough information will lead to disappointment.
Don't scratch that itch until you find the right car! Settling for a car you have concerns about may last much longer than the search.
The right car for you will come up!

Well damn, I must be thinking of later years. I could have sworn it was standard on Z51 right from the get-go. But I just checked the ordering guide and you're right. Thanks for the correction.
