Just purchased 2017 C7 with 6k miles and auto transmission. The shifting is sloppy as it rolls through the gears. Nothing like the tranny in my 2017 BMW 340 which shifts crisply. It is better when in track mode but I am reluctant to stay in that mode. Is this normal?
I have a 2017 C7 with A8 transmission. I recommend a transmission fluid change, and if that doesnt get where you want it, a tuner could tweak the shifting making it firmer.
With our 2017 Z51 there is a big difference in shifting characteristics when in Drive depending on how I drive the car.
If I'm in Tour and feather-footing around town, the shifts are so soft that I sometimes can't notice them.
If I go to Sport and floor it, it snaps the shifts and barks the exhaust on the upshifts.
For me, that's the best of both worlds. Others may think it's too tame in town.
EDIT- If the car still has the original tranny fluid, changing would be a good idea to prevent developing the shudder and other issues that some cars develop. The new stuff came out in Spring of 2019. If you're still under Powertrain warranty, a triple flush will be covered under warranty if you say the words like shudder and jerking. If no warranty, plan on some $ but I'd still do it if not done already.

After the triple flush purchase a Range device. If before I would unplug it in case your dealer doesn't accept a minor temporary modification?Your shifting is better in track mod because it is staying on all eight cylinders and not dropping into 4 cylinder eco mode.
That's exactly what this tranny does leaving it in auto shift in touring and eco modes selected.
Range will save your driveline on I believe unnecessary wear and tear at the cost of a little more gas.
That is a good alternative but some of us bought an A8 becaue we don't want to shift it especially when cruising down the highway .
I live in Atlanta, traffic is horrible at times, I would rather pop it in drive and let the car do the shifting
I think for those of us who think like me the Range or having AFM trned off in the tune is a better alternative

I can agree with that maybe this year when I have the oil changed I will ask about the new transmission fluid. I am afraid if I drive my A8 in auto mode ONLY I will have transmission problems like SOME others have had. I have owned C6 's and 2 C7's with paddles and never ever used them once until my 2017 Z06 and now I use them all the time and actually enjoy it go figure....

It's a beautiful 2nd day of spring here in central Va and I just got back from a nice spirited drive through the country then back home on the interstate in my '17 GS. I have to say that if your '17 A8 is "sloppy' as it rolls through the gears then you need to take it to the shop.
My A8 shifts smooth as butter as fast as lightning as I mash down on it. And I haven't even had the triple-flush done. I haven't had any issues so have just put it off.
I own a 17' Z06/w Z07 and street or track never experienced that.. there is something wrong with it. I thank the powers that be that my Z is nothing like a beemer lol

Have not done the triple flush yet either but am going to ask my chevy dealer Corvette mechanic about what he suggests when I have my oil changed next month.
