Default Battery Warning

The Duralast AGM battery on Autozone's website advertised as an "EXACT FIT" for the C7 DOES NOT FIT! Not even close! Too tall, hold down cannot be attached and there is no way to attach the fuse block. The Advance Auto AGM Diehard does fit PERFECTLY! The 760 CCA spins the starter with gusto. The attached folding handles make installing it and someday removing it one whole hell of a lot easier than the OEM version. In addition AGM's last much longer and discharge much more slowly when not used. I got 9 years out of the one in my C6. AGM's ROCK!

It would help if you would post part numbers.

Too bad you had to find out the hard way that the Duralast didn’t fit correctly, but the Diehard batteries are a good choice. Had one in my ‘03 and was very pleased with it.

But, it is easier if you have the numbers on your receipt, isn't it?

This Sears Diehard is
Die Hard AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat)
size G48; Their Model 50748 Sears:

The small wire is a voltage sense wire for the ground side of the battery. The alternator uses remote sensing to make sure the battery has sufficient voltage across it to charge the battery. If it is disconnected you will receive a charge system error. The remote sense is why the alternator voltage goes very high compared to other cars. When there is a high current draw the alternator provides a higher current at a higher voltage to maintain the correct voltage across the battery terminals for proper charging. Remote sense is a time-honored method to ensure the proper voltage is supplied to circuit boards in electronic equipment racks where the power supply may be some distance from the circuit board/boards.

Description Item # 02850748000P Model # 50748
Specs Compared to OEM:
CCA @ 0F: DieHard = 760; OEM = 565
20hr Ah: DieHard = 70; OEM = 70
RC DieHard =120; OEM
Weight DieHard = 44 lbs; OEM ~40 lbs

Specifications Voltage 12 Volts Cold Cranking Amps 760 CCA Cranking Amps 875 CA Reserve Capacity 120 RC Amp Hour Rate (20 Hrs) 70 Ah Approximate Weight 44 Lbs BCI Group Size 48 Dimensions Length 11" Width 6 7/8" Height 7 1/2"

I, on the other hand, have it sitting in my computer for reference.

Well Elmer if the receipt wasn't in the glove Box of my car which is 200 miles from where I am currently I Would be happy to share that number with posters on this forum. Since that's not possible it might be necessary to break a sweat and strain one's fingers to look it up on the website. I'm not sure if the Sears part number would be of use since I bought the battery at auto zone and Sears where I live is going down the tubes if not already gone. Thanks for the additional information although I am not sure I understand most of it.

No problem. My Sears part number is probably useless by now but it is what I have in my records. Being the sport that I am, I'll look at Autozone for a part number for future reference.

Thanks guy, that's great input for Diehard advise! 760CCAs excite me!

I've got a Diehard installed in my work car, a 2006 Mercedes-Benz E320 I6 turbodiesel. Been installed since February 2014. I do keep a battery tender on it. It's got 850CCA, if I recall correctly. It's a big **** for the diesels.

I made a mental note of Advanced Auto Parts stores, as the outlet to buy Sears Diehards now. I've got an Advanced store about 4- miles from my residence in suburban Dallas, Texas.

Just an afterthought guys. Don't forgrt to remove the tiny little white plug at the positive terminal end of the old battery and reinstall in the same place on the new battery. The vent tube plugs into the negative end. That little plug would probably be a bitch to find.

OP;

Sorry for your frustration and a waste of your time, buying aftermarket parts..

Perhaps, "path of least resistance" AC Delco Gold, for the last 100 years?

3/15/21

Good Chevrolet Parts (Renton WA.)
PN 88865245 48PG Batt, $153.95, 42 months warranty, 770 CCA. Weight 41.9 lbs.

>High density negative paste, improves performance and increases battery life.
>Enhanced life alloy/silver calcium stamped alloy increases cycle life and improves performance.
>Calcium lead positive grid, maximizes conductivity and allows for low resistance.
>Robust envelope separator with puncture-resistant back, allows for increased acid circulation and prevents shorts, which helps the battery to remain cool and extend batty life.
>Vent cap design that resists acid leakage.
>Precision manufactured ribbed case that is 100% pressure tested, helps avoid future leaks and adds strength and rigidity.
>100% electrical short tested to minimize early failure.

Note: My replacement time approximately 33 minutes.

Many thanks,

Ray
