You can have Safelite give you the insurance price as a cash purchase. All you have to do is show them your card.
If you are within your deductible, it will save you from having this replacement as an incident on your record. Yes, a windshield replacement goes on your insurance record as an incident.

Internet Urban ledgends , love it lol ....unbelievable, a GLASS comp claim will not raise your rates unless you a habitual claimant
Just like they won't raise for a not at fault accident , your windshield breaking is not your fault
I have ALLSTATE insurance in the state of FL. I had a running crack across the windshield of my truck, when I called to put in the claim, their very first question was..."Can the crack be completely covered by a dollar bill?" evidently, ALLSTATE wont replace until the defect is larger than a dollar bill. In my truck's case...it was a lot larger than a dollar bill. I see you are also in Florida, check with your insurance company. Good Luck!
Why did you not ask them why they were asking ... the real reason they asked is because most insurance companies will wave a deductible if the insured chooses to repair rather than replace . It has nothing to do with thier replacement policy , the choice is yours.....replace and pay your deductible or repair for free 🤔

I'm sure it's been asked, but a Heads-up Display? Big difference. If it bothers you that much replace it (though, it may well last indefinitely--one on my C5 has). I'd likely leave it and drive on until it gave me a reason to do otherwise. All the best.
Recently purchased a 2014 C7. The prior (and original owner) got a small impact crack in the windshield from debris impacting the glass. He took the car to a windshield specialist who sealed the crack. Apparently, they did not feel it was necessary to replace the windshield. The area seems to be stable at this point, however, I am thinking about looking into a new windshield in the near future. This brings up a few questions:
Is there a certain size or diameter the crack (chip) must be to warrant replacement?
Can you trust the well-known mobil repair companies to do the job right for UTV Windshield? Not sure if installs on C7s are any more difficult?
Can you have this done at a body shop or dealer of your preference and still get reimbursed by insurance?
The size is less than a pencil eraser. Most people don't even notice it's there, but it 's certainly noticeable to me!
Any input shared would be greatly appreciated!
For a crack smaller than a pencil eraser, repair is usually sufficient. Reputable mobile repair companies, body shops, or dealers can handle it, and insurance will typically reimburse the repair. Replacement is only needed if the crack grows, is near the edge, or obstructs the driver’s view.
If the crack was there when you bought the car, then insurance probably won't pay for repair, unless maybe the crack starts to grow. Of course you can make up a story, but there are hazards to doing it that way.
We've had 3 windshields replaced on our various Corvettes over the years by 3 highly rated shops in different states, every one of them turned into a frustrating and time-consuming PITA.
If the current repair doesn't actually effect your vision (instead of just bothering your mind), I'd leave it alone unless/until it gets worse.
