Default What NOT to do after your first hour of ownership. :(

Yesterday afternoon my son calls me and says "Damn dad did you hear that? Some dude just climbed a tree with his C7". I heard something but we live in the country and a roundabout is behind us which means people need to know how to drive and run into one another every week so I ignore the sounds lol. Well none the less after he said C7 I jumped on my bike and go done the road, we have orchards across the street and this poor dude attempted to pass someone in his hour old C7. I am ASSUMING and its really not fair but pretty sure he left the light, it opened up a little he hammered it to pass someone and washed out. Buddy said it was supercharged. I seen Corsa exhaust, Z06 tail lights, "I think" Z06 wheels, comp seats, A8, etc. so from what I can see there was money in the car. Look at the driver seat. That SOB is lucky to be alive. That damn tree branch which was about 6" diameter punched through the car between him and the steering wheel. He was pretty banged up and walking pretty damn ginger. I told the tow truck driver to drop it off at my house in the shop around back for a couple hours. HAHA Be careful out there!

Dudes got a cracked wheel must be a GS or Z06.

I'll continue to laugh at these jokes until my Z06 wheels crack, then I'll just cry in shame.

Negative ghost rider. Look at the front fender vents and the top brake vents on the rear fenders. Also Stingray rockers. Just some aftermarket parts. It had something. I also noticed long tubes.

LOL Now I get the joke. Went over my head as I don't have a Z. LOL You guys are brutal.

Moral of the story here, learn to drive responsibly.
I’m sure his insurance will declare this a total loss...RIP C7

I'll bet a taco that he had all the nannies turned off because he "didn't want the car held back" or some such bullshit.

It's a little scary that anyone who has never even driven a sportscar could walk right into a dealership purchase a Z06 or ZR1 and drive it away. Not surprising how some dealerships are so conservative when it come to allowing test drives.

I guess the best thing that happened was he is alive.
I read an article not to long ago the a little more than 10% of the HellCats that are totaled are within the first 30 days of ownership. Need some seat time !!!

Looks like a Stingray with cosmetic mods, rather than a widebody.

Did a little internet sleuthing based on the license plate frame.

Looks like this poor car had already been written off before this incident. 2016 Z51, automatic, 28k miles, salvage title. Looks like a lot going on under the hood.

https://en.bidfax.info/chevrolet/cor...6g5120949.html

Found a cached Google page with the car listed for sale with the exact same mileage as the salvage auction, for $49,998. Seems kinda high for a rebuilt salvage car.

From the looks of that branch punched through the door that idiot is very fortunate he won't be singing soprano the rest of his life. For the three Corvettes (so far) I've bought in my life I always take it easy the first few drives to get a feel for what the car can do and how I respond as the driver. To think you can buy a high performance car and just hammer on it is a bit foolish.

If I recall, once a car is under salvage title, insurance companies will only issue liability policies on it. No comprehensive or collision. At least that is the way it was here in Florida.

Will it get salvaged again!?!?! Nine lives like a cat?

Damn, scratch one C7. At least the guy walked away from the wreck - although a bit gingerly.

That is hilarious. It was already salvaged. HAHA He paid $50K for that plus about $5K in fees/taxes here in CA. I have heard you can now get full coverage on salvaged cars in CA but thats just rumor. Funny the "kid" there who was following him, said it was supercharged. I see a catch can, intake, and full exhaust. No blower lol. Thats to bad. He is certainly lucky to wake up today. We live in Tracy, Ca and its not all that big. I know the guy. Next time I see him out maybe I offer him my C7 for $60K. LOL
