Recommend a patch plug. Discount tire usually does a decent job

Yep, a plug and patch method of repair would be the best.

Fix-a-flat ( or any versions, brands, or other ) is only a temporary fix.

Generally, it's so you can get to someplace that will clean (the gunk up) and either patch-plug or replace your tire.

Patch plug is the only way to go, plugs just never last.

Patching is the way to go, depending on the location of the puncture... If it's on the flat of the tread it's normally repairable. If it's on the curve of the shoulder from tread to sidewall it is not repairable and the tire must be replaced...

I agree that a patch is the best way to go, but I have used plugs many times over the years and I have never had one fail...but they were used on non-run flat tires. I am not sure if that makes any difference?

OP;

Caveat:

"Unfortunately, when it's time to consider repair, even a trained tire specialist may be unable to confirm internal structure damage resulting from a run-flat tire having been driven in a severely underinflated or zero pressure conditions. Such damage may not be visible on the surfaces of the tire's exterior sidewalls or internal liner, making it impossible to determine tire suitability for repair or reuse. Because of this, Tire Rack and many tire manufactures recommend replacement of run-flat tires driven in a severely underinflated or zero pressure condition." (Flat tire repairs- after driving on run-flat tires. Tire Rack )

Note: Michelin repair policy= One repair maximum.

(Def Caveat: A warning or proviso of specific stipulation, conditions, or limitations.)

Many thanks,

Ray

My tire guy uses only a good patch after cleaning and sanding the interior area.

If we all looked at our tires closely, we'd likely find something. They just don't all leak.

Fix a flat will plug the TMPS sensor. If it has not been driven flat pump it up and go to a tire shop for a patch if driven flat you will need a new tire

AFAIK, there is no centralized system that keeps track of tire failures after repairs.
But so far I have not heard of any Corvette runflats that catastrophically failed after a proper repair (remove tire, inspect interior, patch from inside, remount tire).
Hopefully, OP didn't need to drive on a flat and won't have to worry about that aspect.

I did an external plug (cheapo Slime brand) on a ZO6 rear (Michelin PSS) and it never leaked for the next 6000 miles until the tire was replaced for wear. I would have preferred an internal plug patch, but didn't want to chance some Bozo damaging my wheel. (Don't know of a trustworthy shop close by.) Of course, being a run-flat, I didn't see much risk. My tire had not been driven in a low-pressure state.

Don't use fix a flat, it could ruin your tire pressure sensor

Patch and plug is the best. That being said I have plugged tires in my driveway and to date I have not had an issue.

Important to check - each manufacturer has put out a guide of how many plugs you can do and if you lose a speed tire rating or not.

Check with your dealer or large local tire dealer. I doubt you have any Discount Tire Stores on Long Island. As long as the tire doesn't have a puncture near a tire edge or hasn't been driven a long distance with no air it is repairable just once. Some dealers and stores won't repair them due to liability fears. However, some stores will repair them at no charge with no invoice. I see there are Mavis Tire Stores near you, They may be able and willing to patch/plug the tire.

Discount tire has patched 2 tires in the past (not on my C7 or C3) and didn't even charge me. I'm just not sure I would let DT touch my C7 due to past issues with my Truck... As I've said, " your DT experience will vary by location."
