A8 shifter question

I just dropped the hex wrench on my shifter while trying to install a blendmount. Tried rubbing it out to no avail. Can I replace the top piece where it says 8 speed or would I need a whole new shift ****?

I may work on it some more or maybe I should just leave it. Damn that was painful. Everything can be repaired for a price I guess. Lesson learned.. always put a towel down first.

Mine was at the body shop for some paint correction and while there they dinged the shifter ****. No saving it. I just replaced mine. Save yourself the aggravation.

Yep, it’s one of those things you will notice every time you shift from park/reverse to forward. You’ll always see it’s not “perfect).👍

Thanks for the suggestion. I found a nice decal on ebay made especially for the top of the shifter. It has the flags logo on it. I will also use a little touch up paint if the decal doesn't completely cover it.

If you have to replace, may as well go all-in on a custom (either leather wrap color or stitch color) replacement.

It's only $, right?

I agree, have a nick on mine around the outer edge and been contemplating replacing it as well. I think my bracelet or ring scratched it.

St. Jude Donor '18 thru '25

You can get just the **** /it comes with boot attached though easy to replace.. A8 phenomenal transmissions.. so much faster cars than the manual trans. I have had nothing but great experiences Street & Track.

Anyone have suggestions or experience with a nice leather shft ****? And how easy are these to replace? Does the whole console have to come apart?

Yes, fairly easy to get the console lifted off.. hardest part is applying that super strong pull upward to "pop" shifter **** off... be careful not to pull everything else apart lol

Boy that's for sure ! And I haven't stopped thinking about this train wreck since. Car only hast exactly 1300 miles on the dot. Guess I should have take note of that and not touched anything !
