I recently installed one of the billiard shift ***** on my '14 manual. Love the look and feel, but I get a ratel when getting on the gas and when cruising at speeds. If I grab the **** it stops. Its on tight and doesn't move at all. Anyone else have this issue? I was thinking of taking it off and seeing if I can tape or do something to keep the metal on metal from touching.
If the new **** is tight and doesn't move then I don't see how it can rattle. Are you sure didn't do something to the shifter mechanism when tightening the new **** as it sounds more like your shifter is rattling.
I remember a warning when installing my MGW shifter that the attaching nut & washer on the threaded shaft are deliberately shipped in a shipping arrangement (forget why) & have to be removed & reinstalled in correct position or will rattle. Just a suggestion.

My C6 had a very similar ratle as my C7 does now. C7 is a little more often as my C6 only did it on WOT.
I only replaced the shift **** nothing else. Its as tight as I can get it. Doesn't move, doesn't twist is just fine on very hard shifts. I even tried to pull up on it and pull it off its on there tight.
When I picked up my 2019, I had the same issue. It would rattle at speed unless I held unto to stick. Took it to a dealer and they put a pad under the handle. Totally fixed the issue. Just a thought...

Just read a couple other post having same exact rattle. I'm going pull it and just put a small pad on top between the stick and where the **** touches it. I think that is the rattle point.
i had the same problem with the shift **** i got from RPI and installing it on my MGW shifter! i just put a thin sleeve over the shaft and problem gone! thats why i don't use RPI anymore nothing but problems with anything i bought from them!
I also love the feel of a cue ball shift **** and have had them on many different cars but they always resonate with a buzz at certain RPMs. Try the Teflon tape or O rings and let us know if that works.
I had a similar issue with my C5. I got several LARGE, steel drill-bit stops that would just slip over the Hurst aftermarket shifter, tightened them in place for vibration dampening. They went under the OEM leather-boot and no more rattle... for the last 19 years.
On my C7 I found after replacing the OEM **** that the twist-on boot-ring under the **** had come loose... not much, not obvious at all, but just enough to rattle at the right (or, wrong) rpms. I used something around the bottom of the **** as a spacer/wedge (maybe just a thin, very small, rubber hair-tie) to help hold the metal ring tight, and no more rattle in 2.5 years All the best!
