Hey!

I am planning to buy a Corvette C7 Z51 3LT. Has recently pulled through a CarFax and has received the information that the car crashed back in 2014.
The injury was reported as "Severe Damage - Damage to left rear and left side".
I have been looking at the car for 1 hour and could not in the short term see any defects in either performance or appearance. (I am no expert)
I would appreciate if someone could give me some input on whether I should give up the car or whether I should strike.
I agree, a minor accident is one thing but severe accident is different. It would have to be priced accordingly to get me interested it in, meaning very cheap!
We need more information: What is special about this car that makes you interested in it? Is this the exact car that you want? Is it hard to find elsewhere? Give us some info there. There are a TON of garage-queen C7s out there that have barely even been driven (let alone never been in an accident) -- so unless the price on this damaged car is amazing, i'd walk away because its likely you can find another option.
I would say pass unless the deal is very good; however, what does severe damage to left rear and left side actually mean? If it's just the body but the underlying structure was untouched, it's no big deal. The body panels on a C7 essentially are just along for the ride.
Ideally you would be able to see pictures of the damage or have a body shop examine to give you more information if it seems like the deal is good.
IF you have the car inspected....
IF the price is AMAZING........
IF you intend to keep it.........(or)
IF you're willing to be on the short end when selling it.....
Then not necessarily a bad deal, but it has to surpass all the above "IF's"

I might consider buying a wrecked/repaired C7 as a base to build a track car after having it inspected by an expert, AND if the price was very cheap. That’s about it though. Honestly, I probably wouldn’t even do that though because I would look at a C6 GS or C6Z for this purpose first.
It would be imperative to purchase the car at a SIGNIFICANT discount and not for street use (for me). It might be a fun project car to take to the track.
Rarely does a heavily damaged Corvette come back 100%. These are high performance, complex sports cars that you'll probably push pretty hard. No way would I buy one that was heavily damaged. I don't care what the price is.
