Default I changed my diff fluid yesterday

I changed the diff fluid on my 2014 C7 Z51. I measured the drained fluid, and it was about 92 ounces, about 4oz less than 3 quarts. It didn't look as bad or smell as some photos I have seen. There was a little build up on the drain plug magnet, but not too bad. I filled with the same volume that I drained, and it was just starting to come out the fill hole. I used the 75W-90 Delco fluid that is recommended.

Accessing either the drain or fill holes was easy. It was a pretty easy job. Also, I used a narrow funnel placed beneath the drain plug and there were no messes.

You shouldn't have any problems. Use a flex head 3/8" ratchet, and I used a couple of extensions to reach the fill hole

How did you get the new fluid up to the fill hole?

I bought a piece of 1/4" (ID) tubing, and attached it to one of those hand pumps that attach to the quart bottle that the fluid came in.

I had to use a simple drill-attached pump on my GS. It's just too crowded up around the fill hole to allow a normal gravity-fed fill, or if there is a way I couldn't figure it out. As for pulling the plug, a universal joint attached to the ratchet is a must.

Using a 1/4 inch ratchet with a short extension and a 1/4" to 3/8" adaptor helps a lot working around the cooler line back there.

did u change it fully cold or after a drive and cool down? i was going to drive about 5 to 10 miles and let cool down about 40 mins or so, enough to get it lifted and things gathered up to get it rocking.

I plan to try to tackle an oil change, transmission, and rear end all at the same time but probably asking for problems trying to do so much.

Congrats on the preventative maintenance. Probably wouldn't hurt to do mine - thanks for the tips on the process.

I drove it probably 6-8 miles or so to warm it up.

I took my 17 GS in for tranny triple flush and asked to check the diff, they didn't tighten the fill plug!!! We went on a road trip and saw fluid leaking. Had a local tire shop tighten it for me.

Good for you, but just a note... "easy" is a relative term. All the crap in the way of the fill-plug on some C7s can make it less "easy."

Instead take your car to grease chimpanzee. They charge only $ 5,500. Sorry see a previous post. Paul
