Is there an official fix for the squeaky removable (body colored--carbon fiber?) targa roof yet? Should I buy a glass top to banish the squeaks? I have a 2016. Thank you!

Have you tried to treat the targa top weatherstripping with some dielectric grease or some natural silicone lubricant? I did that on my C5 and it really helped quiet any squeaks.
"Official fix," good luck. An "Advanced Search" here will bring up a LOT of relevant threads. It seems no one thing works for every car through all temperatures.

You can immerse your C7 in a vat filled with WD40 and it will still not stop creaking. I have lubed every possible contact surface there is with no luck. My C6 required an e-clip on the roller shaft on the front handle clamp downs. Worked instantly and never creaked again after years of putting up with that noise. C7 clamp mechanism is different. I have lubed everything, installef o rings and no luck. I have no noise on cool or cold days. The warmer it is the noisier it gets. Just returned from a long ride and 89 degrees out. Creaking like the lid on a coffin. Only the left side makes noise and when I release the handle the noise quits. Looks like I'm going to have to bend over snd pay the $300 or so for the parts needed to fix the problem.

We had the same problem on our 2017. I used Dielectric Silicone Grease on everything and that helped but still had the squeaky left side. I removed the silicone grease from the latches only (left it on the weatherstripping) and used Superlube paste on just the 3 latches. For us, that solved the problem. Does your car have the new style latches?
Do not use Superlube on the weatherstrip, GM recommended that for a while the C6- it's ok at first, but then turns in to a squeaking creaking popping gooey mess that's a PITA to remove. Only for harder surfaces.
Good luck...

My car is a 15 with the old style latches. Will try the Superlube. Thanks
My 14 squeaked near the right locking handle. I treated the seals and placed O-rings on the front roof studs. I don't think I needed to do this but I did for precautionary purposes. I located my squeak in the right locking handle on my transparent roof. I shot it with silicone and two years later I am squeak free.Good luck.
I had annoying creaks and squeaks that sounded like they were in various locations.
My first go around I used the YT video posted by BlueDevilZ51 and applied silicone grease to the contact surfaces... That stuff is really nasty, 'cuz if it gets on an unintended surface it is a PITA to remove or clean off. Will never use silicone grease for seals again.
My second go around, I removed the top and did two complete cleanings of the contacting surfaces using windex on a microfiber towel followed by rubbing alcohol
I applied three coats of
, allowing 20 min drying time between coats
While waiting for the 303 to dry, I cleaned and lubed the pins and receptacles sparingly with silicone free
using a cotton swab...
I also tightened the rear latch a turn. Tightening it too far will cause the roof to interfere with the windows making the door difficult to open.
Been squeak free for over six months, and I don't have to worry about getting silicone grease from the top on any surfaces when I remove/reinstall it. Super Lube tech info
I have a 15' in Iowa and a 16' in Florida. Both are the Lexan (see-thru) tops. The 16' squeaks and the 15' hasn't so far. I would use a teflon or siliicone product on all the top seals first. There have been articles that gm changed the front pins to stop this but not sure just when the upgrade occurred.
I have Mag ride on both and have gotten rid of run flats for Pilot 4S which softens the ride and also keeps the squeaks down so that's another variable to consider. Loud exhaust noise also helps one to not notice the squeaking. LOL
I never plan to remove the targa. Maybe the squeaks and rattles will never happen. I wish GM would have left the targa in the 90's.
This is a very effective solution - due to my allergies I might go through an extended period of time when I dont remove the top at all and the creaking eventually goes away completely.
