That is a question that cannot be answered!

It probably would help if you gave the parameters of what you need it for!

What do you need to protect your car from? Wind, rain,, snow, birds, tree sap, sun, bumps in in a parking lot, etc.? No cover does it all that I know of. A lot will do multiple things.

Check with the various manufacturers of the covers and see what they state the cover will do. Coverking makes some very good covers so you might start there.

Personally, I will never use another outdoor cover as I had a Porsche 930 turbo under restoration waiting in a paint shop's lot in Miami with an outdoor cover on it and when they removed the cover the black paint came off in sheets.

Only thing we could figure happened was that condensation was building up under the cover overnight and then steamed up in the next day's hot sun causing it to lift the paint. No real harm as paint was being totally stripped for new paint anyway, but taught me a lesson.

This was years ago and I expect outdoor car covers may be more advanced now however I will never use another car cover outdoors.

Okay, that makes it easier!

Due to my Wife working at home, her car was not getting a lot of use. It was outside and the Vette was in the garage. We have a lot of wind in the Ventura Area. Sometimes, we have winds of 20 to 30 MPH, with gusts up to 40-50. I know most covers would be hanging on by the security cable, not good. I checked a lot of covers and I did not want to use bungee cords to hold the cover down.

I found Carcover.com. They have a five layer cover that has one inch straps with plastic buckles, front and back. They run sales on covers on the Holidays and Memorial Day is not exception. They have a 15% of sale, Promo Code: EE15

"When it comes to buying Car Covers, our Gold Shield 5L Car Cover beats all its competitors for many reasons. It can resist all types of extreme weather conditions such as snow storms, desert heat, hail storms since it’s 100% waterproof and water-resistant. The Ultimate Car Cover exclusively offers an inner layer of soft fleece lining, making sure to protect your vehicle’s paint and finish. The package includes a free storage bag, antenna patch, and cable lock, plus we ship it to you for free. We back up this Car Cover with our full Lifetime Warranty as well. This Car Cover is guaranteed to fit perfectly or your money back. Order now and take advantage of our limited-time great pricing!"

They are also very fast and I have received my cover in a little over a week.

The straps work. We were having some serious wind here and I went out to check out the cover. The weather report said we were having gusts up to 50 MPH. The cover was hardly moving. When, the wind stopped after a few days, I carefully.took the cover off, took a California Duster to the car, and then detail waxed the car, to be sure. I then put the cover in the washing machine, on Delicate, to get rid of any lingering dust

When, we bought our washer and dryer, my only requirement was that they be large enough to put a car cover in. I put it back on the car when it was done. jmho
