A friend of mine has a 2015 Corvette Stingray. His 'screen' has decided to go blank. Come to find out it is being caused by one of the cables that feeds the screen. There is a 'ribbon' cable and also 2 'blue' colored cables(usb?) that feed into the screen. Upon diagnosing the situation it is one of the 'blue' cables causing the problem. If you hold one of the blue cables a certain way the screen will come back on. Unfortunately raising the screen up and down this is causing the screen to go blank.
Supposedly the only way to fix the problem is to replace the SCREEN ASSEMBLY which includes all of the cables????
$800 minimum to buy it.
Is there no way to just replace the cable? Has anyone else suffered this problem and found a 'cheaper' fix for this?

What size is needed? 6" or 1 foot?
EDIT: 6" is the size needed.
