On my car with the Nav unit that is where the direction I am driving shows up. Here is a picture of my IP with the car parked in my garage and facing south.

Does the NAV show the no GPS symbol? Red GPS with a X through it?
Might not be connected to GPS.

Yes, if I am underground, it shows up in red or an X but most of the time it is 2 dashes and sometimes it disappears!

When I pull my battery negative terminal off to work on the car, I get this for few minutes then the compass recalibrates itself and shows my orientation.

There are two dashes because the compass is capable of NE, SW, etc.

It's my understanding that the direction setting comes via OnStar... when it expires so does the direction indicator.

I don't have Onstar active, yet my Compass works just fine.

I also don't have Onstar and my compass works fine also

One of the tin foil hat people probably disconnected the OnStar module.

From Day 1 I had a working compass in that spot...very handy. And same here...didn't renew the OnStar after the free trial.

Does anybody know if there is a specific antenna for the PDR or can I use one that hooks up to PDR module that is GPS. Thank you
