I just bought my first Corvette last week. I bought a 2017 C7 GS 2LT A8 with 9k miles on it.. This car will be mostly garage kept. I will not be using it as a daily driver. I will also most definitely not be taking it to a track. I will just be driving it on my off work days and probably only then in nice weather. I want to keep the miles down, to keep the resale value up, in case someday I may want to upgrade to a C8. Since this is how I will be driving this car, I will be keeping the mods to a minimum. Besides a couple performance mods, the rest will mostly be cosmetic. I just thought I would post this to tell everyone what my initial mods will be and to get some feedback on my choices for how this car will be used.
From day 1, I have been experiencing the shuddering at constant highway speeds while in "D" mode, that disappears in "M" mode.. After posting here and receiving multiple posts from many helpful people about it, I've learned that it's a common problem that requires a transmission triple flush. My appointment to have that done, to correct that problem, is already set up, a couple days out. Other people have talked about getting a range unit, which correct me if I'm wrong, also corrects the shuddering problem, or at least just keeps the engine from wanting to go into V4. I haven't been able to find a website that sells the range unit. All I find in google searches is stoves and gun ranges.. lol. So If someone can help me find a good range unit for this application, I will greatly appreciate it.
I've also noticed the lag response off idle and have read many posts from people saying to get a ported TB that will correct that problem. Other people are also getting a TB controller with the TB as well.. For the way I'm gonna use this car and to correct the lag, I'm gonna just buy the Soler ported TB and not the controller to go along with it. I've also read about an upgraded intake air filter which I know is also important for air flow, that I will also buy.
So my initial mods for how I will use my car are:
1. The transmission triple flush
2. A ported Soler TB
3. A range unit
4. An upgraded performance air intake filter
Beyond that everything will be mostly cosmetic. What does everyone think? Is this a good way to go, keeping in mind how I plan to use this car? Thanks
Make sure you take the Range Device out before you take it to the dealer for any work.
seems I’ve read some folks having their power train warranty blocked if the dealer noticed it.
(I don’t know why GM would care if someone B uses something to reduce potential problems but apparently do).
If your state has an emission check that requires them to hook into you OBD port (where the Range Device goes) remove it and drive several times before going for your inspection.
I wouldn’t buy a Range off Amazon or eBay, they might not be the most current models.
I agree with others, I wouldn't bother with the 'so-called' performance air filter.
A8 shudder is 'common' on forums because that's where everyone with the issue comes to report and complain about it.
However it's actually not that common as most reports are that only about 5% of C7 A8s experience it.
Definitely get the Range Device as it puts an end to the ignoring changing back and forth from V4>V8.

I bought a range unit directly off of the range website. It is in transit now and will not arrive until after my dealership appointment to do the transmission triple flush. Thank you for the advice. I will make sure to not have the range unit in the car for future appointments.
My state doesn't have the emissions check.
May I ask how you got the Veteran tag on your profile? Does it mean you are a veteran of this website or a military veteran? if it's because you're a military veteran, then I want one too. lol
Congrats on your C7. The only change I might make to your list is drop the air filter mod and instead consider doing the Soler Throttle Controller.

Why drop the performance air filter mod? Won't it still increase airflow to the TB? I'm also thinking that since It's reusable, I can just make the initial purchase, then just clean it every x amount of miles and reuse it. I saw a youtube video of one that looks like a K&N filter, good quality, that's blue and doesn't require the air filter oil like the K&N does. I forget the name of it.

As stated, those air filters don't provide much extra for the money spent. You won't feel 4 or 5 hp over the 460 hp you already have. As for the cleaning/reusability, you're supposed to clean it every 50k miles. The OEM filter gets replaced at 37,500 miles. Compare the price of each. The value depends on how long you expect to keep the car.
And is not uncommon for the aftermarket filters advertising to make more power to not fit well and not filter as well. The extra air for combustion has to come from somewhere.

I think it is somewhere in the Off Topic section that has a thread on being a veteran and when you post there, it will be added.
