I've read about the gas cap issues for years with the C7 but not this.
It seems like sometimes but not every time when I unlock the doors with the key fob, the gas door pops open with the unlocked door. I cannot figure out how to address this crazy problem. Any ideas? Thanks

I am guessing when you say the fuel door pops open when you unlock the doors, it opens maybe 1/4" or so?
If so, what may be happening is that the fuel door is not latched although it is locked and when you press the FOB unlock button, the fuel door lock releases and the fuel door opens about 1/4".
Try this...With the doors closed and the fuel door fully closed, lock the doors. Next, press on the fuel door as if you want to open it. This releases the latch but not the lock. When you do so, you should notice the door pops out ever so slightly, barely even noticeable, but, it will not open because it is still locked. Now, press the FOB door unlock button. The doors will unlock and the fuel door will pop open about 1/4" or so.

Hopefully this addresses your concern.
Thanks for the tip. Today as I walked up to the locked car in a restaurant parking lot I pressed the FOB, when got the car the gas door was open a crack. This has happened infrequently but it concerns me.
I have tried to duplicate the problem but it stays locked every time I try, frustrating
BTW, as I was typing this while listing to the news, they were promoting new stingray decorated corvettes at the upcoming Detroit grand prix this weekend, the reporter said GM will unveil a new car tomorrow at the Ren Cen.
Yeah, interesting.. no gas cap on the C7 and the door is pretty much only locked or unlocked.. even unlocked you have to manually open it, would not think that is possible for it to "pop" open. Keep us posted,

My thoughts as well but I should not have said poped open as I found it open just slightly, enough to. know it was open.
Makes no sense as opening the gas door is a manual operation.

When I have tried to open the gas cap without my FOB nearby, it will pop open when I do go to open the car.
Maybe someone is bumping in to the gas cap without realizing it or they are just fooling around with your car.

I blocked off the "locking-pin" hole right after I got my '18 so I wouldn't be blocked if it glitched, as some have been over the years. Hence, I'm always sure if I push the door completely latched and it catches correctly.

I suppose the issue could be that the fuel door latch is not working consistently. When the latch isn't working, I am guessing that it is the fuel door locking mechanism that is holding the fuel door closed until you press the FOB unlock button.

^This answer is correct and is the only physical way the problem that the OP is having could possibly occur.

Makes complete sense. I wish I would have thought of that before posting. Thanks

I did a little experiment with my Z06 today concerning your issue. While locked i tried to open the fuel door and of course it stayed locked. As soon as I hit unlock on the fob the fuel door popped open. I tried this a couple of times and the result was the same. I suspect in your situation someone may have pushed on the fuel door while locked and then it popped open when you unlocked the car. If it is a continuous issue then someone is messing with your car or your release mechanism is at fault.
