Default What piece am I missing..?

Hello all!

I really want to avoid drilling into the nose of my Corvette, however, my state requires a front plate (New York). That being said, I purchased this front plate bracke ( https://www.gscreations.com/c7-corve...ing-frame-kit/ ) and it finally arrived. The problem is that there's no way to attach the plate to it when you take the CORVETTE front plate piece off.

There's also an illustration which shows that it alone is not intended for mounting of the plate. It looks like I am missing a piece and I can't figure out what it is. Anyone else with this bracket (or in general) have any idea? Thanks in advance!

That is generally known as the "aeroplate". Take off the front piece (embossed with the word Corvette), behind that piece you should see some large phillips screwdriver slots. Back those out and insert the protrusions on the back into your grille. Now tighten the phillips screwdriver slots to expand the protrusions and grip behind your grille.

There are probably some indentations or dimples in the face of the bracket. You will probably need to drill some small holes for your license plate screws. Use the license plate to line-up the holes.
Drill these holes before you mount the bracket to the grille!

Yes! You're right! Thank you very much and to you too, duck!

Here's a video on it also for those who may be asking the same question:

Here's my C7 with its New York Plate. No drilling required.

Hey fellow NY'er! Yup, I see now how to do it. Have to get the right drill bit and then just do the easy install. Thanks!

The aero plate holder is certainly the cleaner looking option for having to run a front plate. A slight bend to the state plate is all that is required once the holder is secured in place.

Oh yes, for sure. So regarding the bend, I've seen people say to bend it over the knee, or use your thumbs from the center of the plate...I think the easiest way is to screw one side in all the way, then bend and hold the plate over to the other side and then drill the plate in, it'll be a perfect bend that way.

No ones bothered me for not having a front plate. But that’s a risk of course. It just ruins the front of the car.

Another option is the Sto n Sho bracket
Installed it on my car and can quickly install/remove the plate as required... The bracket installs in minutes using existing bolts.

.
If I get stopped with it off, "Oh, thanks, officer... I just washed the car and forgot to reinstall it"....Boom. 30 seconds later, plate installed!

Good thread, still running without a front license plate and hopefully don't need to mount this but good to know just in case.

The reason the cars are delivered with two stock license plate holders is the Aero Plate mount isn't quite legal in some states. They have rules about how high the plate has to be above the ground and the Aero Plate mount is a little too low. Most LEOs don't measure how high the plates actually are since there are so many cars out there that have plates situated wherever the owner or the used car dealer decided to stick the plate since the car they had didn't include a stock plate holder.

My car was a dealer transfer from the original dealer in Niagra Falls, NY to a dealer in Raleigh, NC so it had both license plate mounts stored in the luggage compartment when I took delivery of the car.

I would suggest this;

https://www.corvetteguys.com/product...e-plate-holder

It has spring loaded clips on the back that you open and close with your fingers and it attaches to the grill. You can put it on and take it off in like 5 seconds. No drilling required and no pita clips.

I wanted something i could put on and take off at wiil and didnt want to drill into the front bumper - this product was perfect for that.

With my suggestion you can run with no front plate and keep it in the car - if you get stopped you can try 'geez officer i took it off when i washed it and forgot to throw it back on'. Worst case scenerio, pay the fine - its better than defacing a beauty like the c7.

Tennessee has always been a rear license plate only state.
