The RH front parking camera suddenly became blurry and all but unusable... There appears to be no impact damage to the unit, it is mounted securely and cleaning the lens made no difference.... Anyone seen this? RH parking camera gone blurry
My RH camera acts up every time I pull into the garage but goes back to normal when I pull out of the garage completely. I figure its just a lighting issue.
Is that smudge in the lower RH corner a tiny chip in the lens - which would look large in video?
DTOM - Same view day, night and inside garage...
Good catch on the smudge! I didn't notice the divot where some FOD clobbered the lens at the bottom...
Unlikely to qualify as a warranty repair, so need to figure out how to replace the unit...
.
I dont think the chip should make the entire image blurry. In fact I think you can see the chip at bottom right of RH camera view. My guess is that the impact of whatever caused the chip actually pushed lens or somehow threw off its back focal length thus blurring the whole picture. In your close up of the camera, look at the ring between lens and housing. gap is not uniform and is gone at lower right side. Maybe some kind of suction tool would let you try and pull lens back out.

Thanks... Agree that it looks like a lens/focus issue and relocating an out of position lens is worth a try. A bit of research has shown the replacement requires removing the front fascia to gain access to the camera assembly, which I could do but prefer to avoid...
