Default Trunk issue

I've noticed over the past couple of weeks that when I open the trunk with the remote, license plate button or dash button, it clicks but the trunk won't pop open. After several tries it works. Well today, after loading groceries into the trunk it wouldn't close. Since it was a short drive home I left it like that. Down but not locked. Got home, unloaded the groceries and closed the trunk. Worked fine. I'm going to take a stab at this since I hear the click and say the solenoid is on it's way out. If that is the case, anyone ever changed out their own solenoid and how does that back plastic panel come off?

Thanks in advance as always......

When you tried to open it did it lift slightly then come back down? Mine does this from time to time. I treat the seals with silicone spray and it gets things back to normal.

I had to use a trim tool to pry on the trunk to get it to open. Took several attempts. I just went out to the garage and figured out how to remove the plastic panel. Everything seems to be ok. I sprayed a little lithium grease in the mechanism and tested. It opened and closed fine for half a dozen times.....maybe that's all it was. I will however take your advice and apply some silicone spray on the seal.....
