Question. Dicovered my engine has the 9.3 quart capacity but is not a Z51 according to thewindow sticker. From everything i have read the higher oil capacity was only with the Z51 package. Is that incorrect or do i have a hidden Z51?

u either have a dry sump at top passengers side engine bay area to fill (9.8 quarts) or you fill up at the valve cover area of engine and use 7 quarts i believe.

Grandsports and Z06 also have Dry sumps, only base Stingray (non-Z51s) take 7.0 quarts. As demonstrated above, it's VERY easy to distinguish between the wet and dry sumps C7s.
Here may well be the operative issue in the OP's own words: "...discovered my engine has the 9.3 quart capacity" Who knows how he made this "discovery," who told him what, for example. In any event, DO NOT overfill!
I Found it when taking my vette to the Firestone for an oil change. when they charged me for extra oil. when I questioned them, they showed me where on their computer it showed the 9.3 quarts from the engine code.

Engine code? Just look at your VIN number. If the 5th character (after 1G1Y) is a G, H, J, K, L or M, your car is a Z51. If it's A, B, C, D, E or F, they screwed you on the oil change.
Don't go to Firestone. Take it to a dealer for an oil change or do it yourself.

I would not trust them. If you do not have a Z51, then they overfilled your engine which is very very bad.
If you do not have a Z51 (wet sump), and they added 9.3 quarts, then they probably created a mess in the shop.
If you do have a Z51 (dry sump), and they added 9.3 quarts, they very likely over-filled it.
I'm not understanding the bolded part.
We have a 2017 Z51. When the dealer does an oil change, I have them add 9 qts and get me the extra qt to top off at home.
Over the next several drives, I add oil after each drive until it's just below the top hole. Always takes between 9.7 and 9.9 qts total.
Slight over-filling is not a problem on the Z51 if that happens, Owner Manual recommends overfill by .5 qt for racing.
There is a build sticker that will tell you exactly what options were included with your car's build. C6's had them in the glove box, but C7's have the build sticker on the trunk floor by the rear fuse box. If it says Z51 on there then winner winner, chicken dinner!

With all due respect... if he can't open the hood and look for the oil fill cap, he's not going to pull up the trunk carpet.

The key is "for racing." Most aren't racing (overfilling is to prevent oil starvation, which on street driving is unlikely even when slightly underfilled). Another key also is how well did they drain it? One more key is to check after the oil change, which I guarantee the dealer is NOT doing. They fill to "specs" rather than run until the oil is at temp, turn off, wait 5-10 minutes and check and adjust BEFORE giving the car back. Hence, my recommendation to have them add only 9 qts. and check and adjust it yourself.
The part about the non-Z51 wet sump is tongue in cheek. Obviously if they put over 9qts in it would over flow and make a mess.
