Recently, when my car was in the shop for a week, I received a Proactive alert from OnStar stating that my battery state of charge was low, and that I should start the car. Seeing how I've had several times where I haven't driven the car in over a week, and this was the first time I'd ever received such an alert I had a new battery installed as mine had the OE battery and the car was built in October 2015 meaning the battery was almost 6 years old and never was connected to a tender, but I use the car mainly for long trips during the year.
I don't use OnStar on my other GM vehicles, but with no spare tire, and with thieves out and about, the ability to shut down the vehicle should it become stolen are compelling reasons to continue the service. The ability to forewarn of impending battery failure is icing on the cake.

Good that OnStar is working well for you and you feel it is a benefit to subscribe to it. I can see where it offers some advantages, but just do not feel it is worth as much as they charge each month. That is just my personal opinion.
