Default Tires

Question - I currently have MICHELIN PILOT SPORT A/S 3 PLUS on my 2016 Z06 now and it feels like the car rides bumpy. Since, I don't track the car, race the car and drive year round. I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion on some tires that might ride smoother or if I should just stay with the same tire.

Thanks

There was an upgrade to the Mag Ride shocks programming that gave a big improvement to the ride on our 2017 Z51. Your Z06 might have come that way from the factory, if not then that's a good start. It will make the ride better with any tires.

Keep on mind, however, that the Z06 rides stiffer especially if it has the Z07 option. The car will always ride "bumpy." The A/S 3 + tires you have on it now are actually quite forgiving.

Like gearhead stated. Determine if the magnetic ride control has been updated. There is a significant difference between the two in tour mode. My son had his 2017 updated and it was like night and day. Mine is a 2019 so it was good to go. Some claim there is a smoother ride with non runflats, but I could never tell the difference. That doesn't mean there isn't any. That is probably just me.

How old are your tires? Tires wear out with age in addition to wear. I live in Las Vegas, where it gets really hot in the summer, which will harden tires and make the car’s ride a little harsher. I change tires every 3-4 years regardless of tread remaining.

I have a 2017 Grand Sport. I did the suspension programing update and it did improve the ride; but changing to Continental DWS plus tires made the biggest difference in ride quality. It should be noted that although tires are the same size, the tread contact area is significantly smaller.

This would be a good thing to check out as a first step.

I put Mich 4s on early this year and was ready to change to Cont DWS when life went haywire. The RFs ride hard and noisy even with cargo area insulation.
