You may need to upgrade to Version 2.0, but I will tell you from experience that getting rid of Version 1.0 can be expensive and the upgrade to 2.0 is not always guaranteed to fix the issue.

Time for another cup of coffee this morning. I was foolishly wondering why you didn't just set the speed alert in the car settings, to show up in the DIC/chime, when the light bulb went off at post #4. I'll not mention this to my Version 1.0; would likely result in a lower threshold for alerts.
I've added a speed warning indicator to my C7. It's a really nice accessory and probably reduces the likelihood of getting a ticket. At about 10 mph over the limit it produces a glaring visual warning. This warning stays active up to brief bursts of near triple digit speeds. Sustained high speeds produce a highly audible alert. Ignoring it is not an option. This device is located in the passenger seat. While I love her dearly, I wish her parameters were adjustable.
My wife thinks my cars have been awesome. She only complains about the insane braking ability of the Z06. I don't think anyone really knows how powerful our brakes are until they experience it first hand. First time I did it, her phone came out of her hands and the seat belt insta locked on her. I was just reacting to someone cutting me off to make a turn suddenly.
"It's a hot night drivin' down highway sixty with my baby in the passenger seat I roll down my window and I lean my head back and put my foot to the floor We're going faster and she's saying slow down We're going faster and she's saying slow down We're going faster and she's saying slow down We're going faster and she's saying slow down And I say "no" and she's saying "slow down" And I say "no" and she's saying "slow down" And I say "no" and she's saying "slow down" And I say "no" and she's screaming "slow down" And I say "no"..."
For about 2 years after I got mine it was fully functional. However, I found that constant speed limit abuse and rapid direction changes without negative consequences radically lowered its level of sensitivity. Now the most frequent noise is light snoring. It will occasionally ask for a margarita, rocks no salt.
