Default Armor Shield IX. Pretty Impressed.

I know these are bad pics, but it's all I have for now. I spent 4 or 5 hours today applying Avalon king armor shield IX. I've never used ceramic coating before and was a little skeptical using DIY ones since I can't get my hands on professional brands. I've had this C7 since dec '14 and I thought I've had it looking great before with Zaino and other stuff, but this is way different, and unbelievably better. It looks so much better in person too. Just thought I'd share my experience, if anyone wants to up their game.

The shine on your car is certainly impressive. A job well done.

I put Armor Shield on my '19 when new and the shine/protection is still doing great.

I boost it by using Wolfgang's SI02 waterless wash and occasionally use Wolfgang's SI02 silica spray. Finish remains slick with things like bug guts removal a cinch.

Your car looks great!

Besides washing it, what prep work did you have to do before applying the Armor Shield?

Glad to hear that. I have chemical guys ph neutral wash, and I ordered this silica ceramic sealant to keep it going longer.
Amazon Amazon

Fully cure should be tomorrow, so I can test out it's ability then...

Wash, clay, paint correct one area that had a slight 6" blemish, then IPA (alcohol) wipe, then Armor shield. I was going to wash with dawn, but figured the clay and alcohol wipe would cut all the prior work down to the clear coat....

1 coat (I did use 2 coats on the hood though) I was confident enough that I covered every inch of the car, so the second coat wasn't necessary. It's not like wax where a second coat would "layer" and get better results. (at least that's what my understanding is).

As far as how much I used? WAY TOO MUCH. ugh, you had to ask, now I'll be embarrassed. lol. Like an idiot, I wanted to get started quickly, and when I opened the bottle I saw a plastic cap underneath. Well, I didn't realize there was a lid on that cap to access a drop hole, so I took off the whole plastic cap. That made it a lot harder to get a small amount on the applicator. I don't mind wasting some, but I just wanted to make sure it cured enough so I wasn't wasting my time with no results. I think it's all good though.

Also, if anyone is considering buying, look for a you tube video by pan the organizer about this product. Theres a very good code to use to get this for $45 instead of the $60 that I paid. I saw the video after I ordered

Wow that looks really good. Bet that looks better than the day you got the car.

I have been avoiding putting ceramic on the car, afraid of messing it up. How easy is it to apply an even coat? Also, do you go over the plastic (lights, etc.) with that or do have to mask it off?

Thanks and best regards,
Vip.

Definitely looks better than ever!! Was real easy. Easier than applying wax. If you have good lighting, its even easier, so you can see you're covering everything well. No elbow grease need to wipe off, just light wiping. According to everything I've read, you can apply it to everything on the car, and that's what I did. No masking at all.

Congrats on a job well done. I did mine the same about 2 months ago with Armor Shield including the wheels. If your going to do the wheels, suggest changing out pads to Ceramic pads to eliminate the brake dust. I used Power Stop Ceramic pads. As you stated the product is very easy to use, and gives great results. I now only use Meguiars Ceramic detail spray to keep car looking good, no more washing which helps us in Cali as far as conserving water. I also only did one coat. Very

Shark Gray, you mentioned removing the cover under the cap, and that allowed for excess AS IX to be dispensed from the small bottle. Thank you for the warning! I'll be applying mine soon. As a side note, in the video you mentioned, there was a comment and recommendation to not even lift the applicator when applying, as that causes the product to make a high spot that cannot be seen.
