I've been experiencing a fairly weird issue as of the past 4-5 days. When I get out of my car around 30 seconds later my car will lock as intended.
Sometimes 5 minutes later, other times 3 hours or not at all my car alarm will sound. I've done a little research, I've disabled the motion sensor. That didn't seem to fix the issue. I also have made sure I didn't press the alarm button on the remote. I've also read that the battery voltage dropping could trigger a alarm.
That being said I'm obviously not to educated on car batteries, but my car cranks just fine and there's been no obvious signs of needing a new battery. I was curious if anyone has any thoughts. Or is this a common issue when a battery is needing replacing?
Thanks for any ideas, I'm sure my neighbors would love to have this fixed as well lol.
With the C7 and strange electrical issues, I think car and FOB battery. When was the last time you changed the two FOB batterys?
It is a cheap check and I think I would try it. I would also put my battery tender on the battery to eliminate that as a problem.
If it goes beyond that, I have no idea.
Umm I've never changed the FOB batteries. Ill need to do some googling on that thanks for the tip.
I bought the car around a year ago from a dealer and it was CPO. I just went by NAPA and AutoZone to have the check the battery on my way home from work 30+- or so minutes. It gave a readout of good battery at 12.53 Volts I'm no battery expert but that seems low for the stock battery?
It's just baffles me that sometimes once it locks 5 minutes later the alarm will sound "it did it when I walked inside napa" to sometimes 2-3 hours later.
Well I was hopeful. I bought a new battery today, then all day long the alarm didn't sound. Just about 10 minutes ago, the alarm started going off. I guess the good news is now I have a better battery (higher CCA). Next im going to start by removing my AFM disabler, then if that doesn't fix it remove the throttle controller. If that dosent do it, I'm guessing it's off to the dealership...

Yea I guess I did. Just wanting to keep everyone up to date on the issue as I may not be the first who have or will experience this issue. Hopefully this upcoming week I should have a resolution I can update with.
OP - there have been a few threads where the rear defroster wires triggered false alarms. Apparently its a part of the alarm system. I recall the dealer has the capability of detecting what triggered the alarm. Hope this helps.
Next time it goes off check the rear hatch to make sure it is fully closed. I had a similar issue and it was related to the rear hatch not closing properly. I know it sounds weird but I opened the rear hatch using the key in the keyhole and the issue went away and I have not had it happen again.

I think you may be on to something. Around the time it started. I just had my back window tinted, I wonder if that could be the case. It completely slipped my mind, thank you so much that might be the issue.

Umm never thought of that. I know my rubber seal for the hatch sticks when it gets warm. I wonder if that could also be affecting it.
If it helps, I have a range device as well as the Soler throttle controller on my 2017 C7 and I have never had an issue with the alarm.
Yea I honestly didn't think it was either if those things. I recently install the new Throttle Controller from Solar. So I just wanted to rule it out as a possibility. I truly think it my be the tint causing the rear defroster to throw the alarm. Just not sure how to test that quite yet haha. Thanks for letting me know that it's not an issue for you though. It does help in the troubleshooting process.

Oh most definitely thank you very much, this almost confirms at least the series of events that occured. Meaning I tinted my back window, installed the throttle controller and then the next day "endless alarm sounds" haha. You've been a tremendous help thank you.
