Default New Addition...

Hello all, I'm about to purchase my first ever Corvette, can't wait.

I'm coming from a 2007 350Z 6MT convertible, and getting into a 2015 Z51 3LT 7MT convertible with 37k miles on it. I'll attach some photos below.

I don't hit the track often, but seek out back roads / canyons at least a couple times a month. The right twisty road with the top down and the engine screaming - that's my happy place! I figure I might miss the more compact size and the low cost of ownership of my Z, but I imagine the Vette wins in most other categories (although I welcome any thoughts you all might have on this).

- What do you all love and what do you hate about your Vettes?
- Any cool Easter eggs?
- Any suggestions for a newbie or things to look out for? Common issues?
- Mine has the comp seats...I'm about 6ft 195 pounds, in my 30s, hope I'll find them comfortable long term.
- Mine has the black wheels...haven't decided yet how I feel about those. Anyone with silver or gray wheels interested in trading? Or any suggestions for me if I wanted to change wheels / wheel color? I'd be looking for an OEM look.

Thanks for welcoming a newbie!

The difference between the 350Z and your new purchase is the difference between a fine athlete at 13 and at 20........as for the seats (I'm 6'1" 225 lbs) I briefly owned a '14 with the comp seats and I found them too tight in the upper back, lats. region. I almost had to drive sideways. Luckily I quickly found a buyer for what I paid for it (owned it for less than a month). But if those seats work for you they are very much desired........enjoy your progress

Thanks all, sincerely appreciate it.

I realize now I probably asked too many questions in the first post so maybe I’ll narrow it down…

What do you all love and what do you hate about your Vettes?

anything you wish you had known when you first got it?

The C7 is a fantastic ride - it combines performance, comfort and styling - a home run by GM IMO.

For your wheels, please post up a Wanted to Trade (WTT) thread in the C7 Parts fro Sale/Wanted section and when you do, be sure to place a value on them - it is required by the rules.

What do I wish the C7 had but doeesn't: blind spot monitoring and cross traffic alert. The C7 can be a bit difficult to see out of rearward.

If i had to guess,I would say your Comp seats will work just fine. Enjoy your car.

Welcome to the tribe. You are in for a glorious experience! I love the comp seats. The Longest drive I did in them was about 6 hours. 5’10” 155 lbs. I’ve never felt uncomfortable in them even once.

cheers!

I love my 2014 Stingray Z51 that also has competition seats and the longest drive has been 12 hours and both my wife and I felt comfortable and the competition seats holds me into place on high speed curves on twisty roads whereas I would slide a little when I had the GT Sport seats.

Also, the car is 7 years old, 22k miles and have been trouble-free and I would say overall the C7 quality is outstanding in my opinion not to say that others might have run into some issues but I think the majority of owners would concur with me on the quality and performance.

Lastly, the bonus of your purchase is that white C7's are faster because the color adds about 15 additional horsepower.

Another ex-350Z owner here...

I do miss the size of the Z since the C7 is a BIG car. Its not that much bigger (10" longer but only 2" difference in wheel base) but it sure feels like it due the long hood and a tighter interior with a lower seating position. The C7 is clearly a lot more powerful and the mag-ride is joy compared to harsh ride of the Z. Handling wise the C7's front end is a bit vague, the steering is lighter its sometimes hard to gauge what the front tires are doing, but the rear end is better planted. I mostly drive in Sport mode but the Z felt closer to Track mode. For me the Z felt light and nimble on the road but it was heavy and slow on the track. The C7 is the opposite, it drives like big car on the road but feels more lively on the track... I know that sounds strange but its just the feeling I get.

Maintenance wise not a huge difference, the C7 has bigger tires and brakes so a little extra cost there. The Z51 dry sump takes special oil and lots of it (nearly 10 quarts) plus a unique procedure to drain and check, so read up on that. Many other things you should review in the manual due to the digital dash and all the other computers in the C7 which are a big step up from the very basic and analog Nissan. Stuff like rev-match, mag-ride, NPP and PTM (on track) are all great tech, the engineering behind the C7 is clearly superior but I do miss the compactness of my Z.

Loved my 2014 Z51, but I had to have a Z06 for some reason. You won't be disappointed. Enjoy your new ride.

Rear vis from the vert is not the best but you get used to it. And must learn to use and trust mirrors for lane changes. Putting eyeballs on a car over the right shoulder is impossible. Just adjust mirrors far enough out and then let cars pass you and watch to ensure you see them in side mirrors before gone from rear mirror. With properly adjusted mirrors there are NO blind spots.

One thing I wish they had was a front camera button on the steering wheel. I use Waze for nav vial wireless apple car play. So it’s two buttons for me to get the front camera on. I know you can go into reverse then forward gear and the front camera will come on. I rarely use that. No biggie just would have been a “nice to have” feature.

Some people complain about the brake dust. But those high performance OEM pads are great for sheer stopping power. I would never change them out for less dust (sacrificing performance). To be honest my Vette is not a daily driver. Every month or so I just clean the dust off the wheels. No big deal for me.

Good luck with your new machine!
