I'm sure this has been discussed, but I can't find anything on it so here goes....bought a 16 Z06, only came with 1 fob ( I have no idea if its #1 or #2). Purchased a fob from a forum member (programmed to his car that I assume he sold). Do I need to un-program the new fob or do the long process??? The short process does nothing for the new fob, or am I doing something wrong??? Thanks in advance

Welcome! Are you sure you have right fob? There are 8 of them.
If you want to just add the fob you bought, then the short process will work. That fob will still work on the car of the person you purchased the fob from, unless he performed the long process on his car. This is because the fob is not programmed, the car is.
Unless you have the memory package, it won't matter if you add this fob as #3 or 4 or more; your car security won't be affected.

fob numbers are the same inside. I have tried the short version twice now...nothing happens to the new fob and car does not recognize it.
Question: when it comes to pushing the start/stop button, just push it once or hold it down?
I think I need to make sure my fob slot in the steering wheel is working properly before I try to do anything else. But you are telling me I need to do the long version? I get the msg..."ready for fob 3, 4, 5", then nothing happens
