On the 2014 Z51 the PCV hose and the other lines there are covered in a rubber hoses about 1" in diameter. Can that insulation be removed without hurting anything? My 15 Z51 didn't have that and neither does my 19 GS.

No idea whether the insulation can be safely removed - really have never thought about it. Hope you get your answer and good luck if you decide to do it.
If it's there I would it protects line from vibration damage caused by resting on engine part or fuse box. My 17 Z51 dose not have it but wished it did. ment to put in I would leave it there.
My 17 GS did not have the insulation ( from the factory) on one of the lines which goes from the dry sump to the air intake duct. It was routed across the top of the fuse box where the fuse box rubbed a hole in it from engine vibration. The replacement line had insulation which fixed the issue from happening again. If you change the lines make sure they don’t rub against any bracket or edge.
So I decided to grab a photo of the covered PVC lines.
The covering appears to be high density closed cell insulation. Interesting, not all the PVC lines are covered. I don't know what impact the direct engine heat would apply to uninsulated PVC tubing in that area of the engine.
With the insulation removed, perhaps smaller tube hangers would be necessary.

Embarrassed! I just posted a filthy engine photo to the Corvette forum for all to see!!!
I guess tomorrow I’ll have to post, 'I Cleaned My Engine Bay' on the, 'What did you do to your C7 today?' thread.
