So really disappointed that my newly purchased 2015 C7 does not support Apple CarPlay. I do not want to spend $1400 on a module. I can spend d less then half on an aftermarket new display. My question is will this effect the driving mode selection that is in settings. I’m ok with this going away if the driving mode selector switch still works. Can anyone help or point me in a good reasonable solution to get Apple CarPlay with out the $1400 module. Thank you. Love the car otherwise
Hi Elmer,
I am new to this forum and I think they removed my other posts because it was in the wrong forum. Any way you can cut and paste your reply from the other forum. Thank you!!

I don't think very many 7 year old cars have Apple CarPlay. Were you told that yours did? If you get a new aftermarket display, you will mess up a lot more than just the driving mode selection.
I have a 15 and what I did was get a Proclip and attach my I phone with the brightness setting on "always" so I can always see the phone display. The bigger the phone screen the better.
Navtool, ~$400 will allow you to stream from your smart phone to the NAV screen. If your '15 doesn't have a front camera, a $20 camera and Navtool will give you a front camera that displays on your NAV screen.
I installed the Navtool in 2016, and have had no problems with the system so far. Front camera works like the OEM camera did.

Frommy build sheet "UVF - CAMERA-FRONT MODULE" does this mean I have a front camera? How do yo uaccess it?
I have a 2015 3LT and I did the full upgrade...the $1,400 one. An absolute royal pain in the *** to do. The YouTube videos are 98% accurate. BUT, if those items/modules have never been previously worked on or removed, it suuuuuuuuuuucks getting in there to do the swap. I did it in a few hours one day. 3 modules.
Overall, the juice was definitely worth the squeeze. Flawless operation. There was one little thing that didn't work regarding the steering wheel controls and the phone....I don't remember what that is now. Obviously I never used that feature. It was very minor. But everything else is perfect.
So from watching videos on the navtool carplay you have to use a ****/joystick to work the carplay vs the touch screen. have they changed that to work with the touch screen?
gladly pay 450 for it to work like it should 450 and a added joystick I am out.
I had mine installed and it’s all Bluetooth. No joystick and it works great. All Apple car play or if you have an android, android car play is wireless. I added an HDMI cable option to mirror my phone if it’s plugged in and you can actually watch videos. Kinda not needed but cool. Well worth the money.
Apple Carplay was also one of my big "wants" when I was shopping for my Stingray. I almost chose a 2017 model with higher mileage than the 2015 I bought based solely on having Carplay, but the dealership wouldn't give me the right trade in value on my Rubicon so I walked.
Ultimately, I purchased a 2015 Stingray and I replaced the HMI and Radio modules with units supplied and programmed by WAMS (White Automotive Media Services). They offer nearly the same product as MVI or Infotainment, both of whom have awesome install tutorial vids on Youtube. The WAMS package was $600 (link) and on top of that I had to procure the glove box usb hub myself, which was about $70. I installed everything in about 2 hours, and it work wonderfully. I have a 2017 Carplay capable GM radio in my 2015 car now.

Awesome! I am so glad to see a more reasonable priced HMI, and radio. 600 for it is talking to me. I have a question have you tried the USB that is behind the radio screen? IF that works, I am thinking the wireless USB kit plugged in there, and not have to replace the USB in the console. 65 for that USB, or 95 for the wireless kit... then you would have wireless Carplay.

Bear in mind that the console USB has different charging capacities for the different years. When I updated my HMI and stuff to get my '14 up to a '17 model, the change in the console USB gave me a higher charging capability. My '14 barely charged the iPhone if it charged it all if I was using a map function on the iPhone.
In the 2014 - 2015 Corvettes, the USB ports charge the phone at 0.5 amps. They will charge the phone but very slowly and if you're using a power hungry APP like google maps, the phone may not charge at all.
In the 2016 Corvettes, the USB port was raised to 1 amp and this might hold it's own as far as charging and using the GPS type of APP but I have a solid solution that takes the guesswork out of the power consumption of the smartphone.
It is better to get a cig lighter USB charger like this...
I am not worried with cell phone charging. I am just curious if the USB behind the radio will work for carplay… if so, the wireless dongle for carplay is money better spent then replacing that console USB... that way phone can stay in my pocket and carplay all works automatically.
