First post here so please have mercy if this isn't in the right spot. I've seached other threads on this topic and haven't found similar issues so here goes:
I know C7s, especailly early ones, had issues with the touch screens. My 2015 has been fine until yesterday when it went black. Initially, I thought the entire screen went out and I'd need to get a new one. However, after some trial and error, I've discovered that it only goes black when a bluetooth device connects to it. Once the device is disconnected, the screen lights up again. The first time it did this last night, my screen eventually was filled with the messages below:
Seeing these messages makes me think that it's a software issue and not a screen problem. If it is a software problem, is there someway that I can update the software on my own or do I need to take it in to the dealer to update?
Thanks for any advice and I'm happy to provide more details if needed.
Maybe try clearing Bluetooth pairings on infotainment screen and pair again. Or clear pairings and disconnect battery to reset everything. Put windows down before removing negative cable because you will need to reindex windows when power is back on. Reindex procedure is in the manual.
Problem solved! I tried the suggestion above and disconnected the battery. No luck. I then tried connecting a different bluetooth device and had no issues so I realized it must be my phone and not my car. My iphone updated recently and I had not turned it off since the update. Once I did, powered it back on and reconnected it to the car’s Bluetooth it worked fine. Yea!
Speaking of bluetooth looks like onstar is not going to continue with hands free calling actually no calls coming or going so I'm dumping them. So help me understand this bluetooth thing I know i pair it with the screen but how do I make a call after that's done? Does the call go thru the car or the phone? Thanks got a lot to learn I need to be able to make a call from the car once in a while

You got nothing to worry about. The hands free calling was a stand alone feature of Onstar, like having a phone built into the car. It has nothing to do with your own cell phone pairing to your car and making phone calls.

When you pair the phone, you will be asked about downloading contacts. Do so. Once done, use the phone icon on the screen OR your phone to initiate calls. Incoming calls will display on the screen and you can choose whether or not to answer.
