I have only had one vehicle transported cross country, so I cannot give any recommendations for who to use. However, the one time I did was just back in September of this year, and it was a bad experience.
DO NOT USE: Ghost Pepper Express, operating out of Oakland, Florida. USDOT 3602394.
I am located in East Texas and bought the car from a dealer in Chicago. Not having any previous experience, I went with a broker the salesman recommended. In turn the broker arranged for Ghost Pepper to deliver my car. A rather long story, but suffice to say the driver damaged my car during his unloading it out of his enclosed trailer. At the time I was assured that the price for repair was fully covered by his insurance, but never received any compensation. When I sent them the estimate amount the response was that it was too high. They even went so far as to send me part numbers for replacement body panels, suggesting that I could buy, have painted, and install myself.
It all depends on your individual carrier as to whether or not you contract with them. Just because it's a brokered referral, doesn't mean it's automatically a negative. I've gotten the best service/s AND lowest prices from brokered carriers. In 100% of liveries on my vintage vehicle shipments.
I agree. I had to use a broker after many of these overpriced carriers were booked up. Glad I did. I got a great deal and the communication and delivery was absolutely perfect.

Incredibly, my brokered shipments are the only 100% insured deliveries. ALL the other major/very pricey carriers have a deductible allowance attached as an addendum. It's almost as if they've got you paying their built in deductible should a claim be necessary. If more folks would have ever requested a copy of the binding contract submittal, then you'd realize this scam they're running.

Rhodedog transport brought my 2019 from east providence to butler nj. He is a retired vet, great person clean enclosed trailer. Treated me great kept me up on his eta. 888 681-6612
Is it cheaper to do the courtesy delivery (averaging 800-1500) or to have it shipped from the dealership to my house?
I have a deposit with Criswell, but am about to put a deposit in with MM, so depending on who gets it first, would be where it is shipped from. I am not sure of the average cost to use my own shipper, compared to courtesy delivery.
I wound up Dan from New England Haulers (located in Rhode Island - 401-996-1254 that was recommended by a senior forum member
They did an amazing job - they had race ramps to use for lower clearance cars
I contacted them last Friday and picked up the car Weds and delivered yesterday. I would highly recommend them. They were very professional and communication was perfect.
I would not hesitate to use them again... They said they would service along the east coast and go out to Michigan (possibly further but that was the furthest west state I could think of when I was talking to him lol)
I've only had to use a transport company once because of PCS'ing and I would recommend Pilot. My car was at my new house a day before I even got there. I was very surprised.
Yep -I went with Dan from New England Haulers (located in Rhode Island - 401-996-1254 that was recommended by a senior forum member

Looks very familiar to me... Off-loading my C7 11 months ago from that same trailer (notice the race ramps, he came prepared). A shotgun trailer (ie one car only - concierge service!).
