I have a 2014 3LT Z51 with navigation. I did recently update the map database. I cannot see much difference. I was hoping that the new update would show traffic on city streets. It still shows only interstate highway traffic. I have gone thru the settings and find nothing that would increase the traffic to display more streets. Zooming in or out does not have any affect. I can use my phone to see traffic, but here in Southern CaIifornia being able to easily see traffic ahead is a very big deal. I am thinking that it may be the 2014 (first C7) just does not work to display more traffic. How about you owners of newer C7's... do you see traffic on city streets and state highways? .... (2014 Corvettes do not have car play.)
Thanks
Only traffic on interstates is displayed, sorry. I don't no if using Google Maps will give city streets traffic either. And you only get the traffic situations if you have the NAV AND use SiriusXm AND have signed up for the traffic and/or weather information options.

Using Google maps ( with or without CarPlay) gets you traffic flow on every street I have come across that is fited with the sensors

That is correct. I have it on my car.

That is different, you are not using the factory NAV. When using the factory NAV you only get traffic if you have a subscription for it, hence XM.
Just use Waze on your phone and be done with it!
Real time alternates around traffic issues, police notifications, road hazards, etc.
I never go anywhere without using that. Soooo much better than Google maps.
I prefer Google maps, but point taken. The 2014-technology nav system in my C7 is so fiddly. I like to say, "Hey Siri, navigate to xxxxx" and be done with it.

it took me awhile to figure it out, but I use WAZE on my navigation screen connected through Android Auto, and run Escort Live on my cell phone connected to USB port. Once its set up, I don't open WAZE on the cell phone, it comes up on car screen automatically when I go to Android Auto. I just plug in phone and open Escort Live on it. Best of both Worlds. If I'm totally beyond cell coverage, the built in nav software is always accessible and the Escort still works. 😃😃

You have to sign up for the XM package that includes Traffic and you will get traffic notices. If you do sign up with XM try and get a package that doesn't include all of the channels with the option of having traffic and paying for it on a yearly basis. I don't have traffic on my XM subscription but I get it for a little over $110/year when all of the taxes are included. You have to keep insisting the price is too high until they get into the range you find acceptable.
The OP has a 2014. No CarPlay or Android Auto involved. Even though he has the 3LT.
So, how's he use Waze or Google Maps unless he uses it off his phone but not on the NAV screen? Yes, he can do this but his question was for information on the NAV screen of his '14.
That's the reason I have done 2 things to my '14. I updated the radio system to the 2017 model and I installed Navtool to get me the front camera.

My understanding is that the "sensors" are other cars that are also using Google, or Google Maps (not sure which). No hardware in/on the streets themselves.
Is that correct?

I think the traffic sensors are actually cameras or radar that reads the traffic and the sensors are on high poles along side of the road.
Thanks to all who responded. What a great suprise. I have the feedback I was looking for.
...A final word that doesn't need further response...
I did subscribe to XM traffic... I think that is the reason that I receive Interstate highway traffic.
I also think that if I had a newer C7 I would have better graphics, thus more traffic display.
The 2014 does not have "car play" capability. I do use my Apple I Phone for nav and traffic, but
would really have liked to have full functionality on my Vette. I have had this car for about six months, joined
"Corvettes of Temecula Valley" Cal. What a great time.

How come your not insisting? You pay $110 a year and you don't even have the traffic package and you think that's a good price? Did you see my post #7 and see what I pay? $35 for 6 months with the traffic package, that's insisting!
From Steve again:
The XM I have is for Navigation traffic only... No Music. I am paying aprox. $60.00 a year.
I have a 2014 Acura and do the same, with no music (same price). The Acura graphics and traffic are much better and include all city main roads and small highways.

Those sensors do exist in some places, but I don't think they are what usually provides the traffic data to Google.
I've had Google Maps show yellow or red traffic delays on the map, in "middle of nowhere". Highly unlikely that there were any sensors there.
Anyone know for sure?
