I have a 2017 C7 GS Automatic with 17k miles on it. Today I was driving about 20 mph and gunned the gas real hard to accelerate and the car backfired on acceleration. What the h***. I always run the super unleaded pump fuel, 93Oct. That has never happened to me before and I hard accelerate often, but usually off the line. Has anyone ever experienced a backfire on acceleration like that and what would be the cause?? The car was warmed up and the outside temp was about 60 deg. I had been driving it for about 30 minutes beforehand. Any input would be helpful. Thanks
OP...Need more specifics as to when....ie as you shifted? As you let off the gas? During WOT....ie gas pedal on the floor?
I am sure it was a wide open shift as it catches everybody by surprise the first time .... its caused by the ecm cutting spark for a split nano second when the car shifts gears .......
Not yet…but it’s not a daily driver so when it is driven it’s not in the mornings when anyone would be sleeping. Plus with the NPP exhaust I am able to put it in stealth mode and it sounds like a stock exhaust until I get out of my neighborhood. Then all hell breaks loose when I open the valves back up.
