Default Is it a Z51?

Looking at a car online with some skimpy information so far. Are the black 5 spoke aluminum wheels and red calipers available only on the 2014 C7 with the Z51 package? Asking before I look any further and start giving out phone numbers and email addresses.

Yep, looks like a Z51. The wheels, calipers and tires look correct, but can't say for sure. Z51 rotors are slot cut in an arc for ventilation. Ask for conformation from the seller or move on.
Good luck

I think the front brake rotors are the smaller non-Z51 size.

I'm going to go with NOT a Z51.

Ralph,

Ask for the VIN, then use this info: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-a-c7-vin.html

That'll tell you what it is.

Do you have an engine compartment shot? Look for the Z51's dry sump oil tank...it's at the very lower left corner of this image with the Dexos cap. Non-Z51 cars will have a big empty space here in back of the passenger side wheel liner.

The "c" in the VIN means it's not a Z51 but it's a 2Lt MT car

Not necessarily. Get the VIN then you can identify what it is. Looks like my C7, which isn't a Z51.

Nice looking car regardless. Good luck if you pursue the purchase.

I like the looks and I don't really need the Z51 package to drive to the grocery store on senior citizen day

It's a toss-up between this car and a 20145 Z51 3LT about 100 miles from me.

Thanks. So it seems you can order a C7 with the Z51 wheels and red calipers without the Z51 package. I'm OK with that, just trying to compare two 2014 C7s.

Thanks Larry, I checked it out. So the VIN has the basic information but it doesn't look like it shows any options. I checked my C6 and the VIN tells me it's a 3LT GS but not that it has performance exhausts, $1,995 chrome wheels, full spoiler, badging, etc. I ordered the sticker from the Corvette Museum when I bought my C6 used.

Sounds to me like this car has the ZF1 appearance package. My 2015 Stingray has this. You get the 19" and 20" wheels and rear spoiler. May have been other features, not sure. Red calipers are another option, cost me $500 for that! Of course, the dry sump tank is the easiest and biggest tell if it's Z51.

Ask seller to lift up the rear cargo mat and take a picture of the build-code sheet.
