A '14 C7 I am looking at buying had the catalytic converter replaced at 29,000 miles (according to Carfax). That's unusual, is it a warning of things to come?

Reason: spelling
I can’t imagine what “warning of things to come” it would be. Probably failed an emissions test so they replaced it. It’s also possible someone removed it and it had to be replaced to be sold legally. Not something I’d worry about.

Just one cat or what? Just one, I wonder why? Could be that something contaminated it? If there are multiple, I understand that cat theft is a huge industry.

Carfax had it at a singular.... I don't know much more than that.
Thats really unusual for cat(s) to be replaced at 29k miles
That's what I thought, 29,000 is odd. I thought they lasted about 100k. Could have been stolen but I think Toyota and Lexus are the hot targets of the thieves.

Yeah, catalytic converters are normally pretty durable and last much longer than 29K miles. If you can pin down the reason for replacement, that would be great, but that may be a shot in the dark trying to get the info. I would say if the car checks out after a thorough inspection, and the car is what you want, seriously consider the purchase. The ‘14 is a really nice car.
Maybe someone stripped the threads while doing an O2 sensor replacement and had to swap in a new cat? Had an exhaust leak and decided oh well I'll just replace the whole thing? I put high flow cats on my previous car so its not an uncommon part to swap out. Its not like they replaced lifters... now that would be scary.

I've been hearing that about the '14. I am also looking at a 2018 Ct 3LT....any thought on the '18?
I'm curious as well. I have a very early build '14 that is my DD, and it's been flawless. I've had to replace one coil pack under warranty. Period. By many accounts the '14 is the most trouble free C7 because the 6 speed auto trans doesn't have all the problems the 8 speed has starting in 2015. Most C7 owners couldn't tell the difference by looking between a 2014 and a 2018 as not much changed year to year except the A6 to A8 trans change.

I've heard good things about the '14 C7 here on CF.and there are a lot more available. A6 or A8 doesn't interest me since I am getting 7MT.
