Hi Everyone, I have a dead battery on my 2019 Corvette Grand Sport. Will the trickle charger be enough to get me going again or do I need a jump starter box like maybe the NOCO Boost XL GB50 1500. I replaced the battery in the Key Fob just in case that was the problem but still won't crank. I don't drive it much.
If the battery is completely dead, it will probably take more than a jump box to start it. I would take a regular battery charger, not a trickle charger and put the battery on charge for a day or so and see if it comes back. The battery charger I have has a 50amp starting setting, a 10amp setting and a 2amp setting. I would probably hit it with a short 50a cycle, then set it on 10amp and let it charge a day or so and see if it has any life left in it.

I have a battery tender with a 4A setting and charging for several hours on that setting does the job, assuming the battery is not defective.
If the battery is totally dead, a trickle charger will be of little use. A jump battery likely will start the car, but am unsure how the electronics behave after start with a completely flat battery. Getting the battery checked by AutoZone makes sense, and based on it being only three years old the battery shouldn't have died, so plan on buying a new one.
One caution is that if you bought the car used, it may have sat untended for some time, which is death on battery life.
Fully charge your battery with a battery charger prior to starting your car. Your C7's alternator is more for keeping a battery charged as opposed to completely charging it. Using your alternator as a battery charger can blow the diodes.
Fully discharged batteries < 3 - 4 volts don't like to be charged at a high rate. It can warp the plates inside the battery.
It is usually best, if you have the time , to start at a lower charge rate ~ 10 - 15 amps. A long charge is your best bet to recover a badly discharged battery.

That's correct!

Personally, I wouldn't leave my battery somewhere to charge that is in business to sell batteries.
Might be a good idea, but I'd be more concerned with what completely drained a Delco battery that's most likely less than 3 years old. Same thing may happen to a new battery.
I am dealing with this same scenario on a friend's `19 GS. He is having some serious health issues and the car sat outside for several months. We were able to jump-start the car and move it back into the garage. Let it run for approximately 30 minutes, but the electronics were FUBAR. A battery tender brought the battery up enough that it would start, but windows would not re-index, trunk won't open and DIC messages won't go away. He finally decided to just buy a new battery (even though this one is only 18 months old) and see if that solves the issues. Now to find that battery tender....
Does Auto Zone know how to change our batteries correctly?
Do they have a very good battery to replace ours?
They only do simple battery changes, when my LaCrosse needed a new battery in an emergency situation they refused to change it, the C7's change is slightly more complicated due to its location.

They will do battery changes but not if you have to remove the fender cover or take apart a bunch of stuff to get at it. Some will not want to do a battery change if there is an ECM sitting on top for liability reasons. For my C4, you will have to take the plastic panel out. NFW would I ever do that for anyone but myself. If that panel cracks, your fault, my fault or nobody's fault, you will have to buy a remake, take the bracing off the old one, prep and paint the new one and install the bracing. Mine broke. Not sure if it was me or the PO but it was broke at the bottom. The safest way to do that one is to take the ECM off, cruise control servo off and pull the battery out. No way anyone else there will know that trick. For things like that, NFW would I want to do it if I was working at the store that you came to so I can't expect them to do it. Where was the battery in your Lacross?

it is under the hood but has one of those Borg lookalike contraptions sittng on the battery, having said that i was able to change myself at home recently and I am not a good mechanic
